Hailey's POV:

It's almost been a week since that night. The night he saved my life once again. Truth is, I haven't seen him since then but honestly, I don't blame him for not attending university as a normal student because he isn't. He's not normal and I actually need some time to process everything that happened that night.
I mean, what do I really know about him? Dylan? All that I think about whenever I say his name is that man, his cold body lying on the ground, surrounded by a pool of blood. The feeling of a gun situated on my temple, the fear of death and his unwelcome kiss on my lips. But why did Dylan save me? He risked his life for me yet I don't think that I can trust him anymore. I need to stay away.

"Will you like answer me?" Mia asked irritated and I remembered that we were walking at the park and she was talking to me about her date which was tonight.
"Yeah, sorry what were you saying?" I asked feeling guilty for spacing out and she scoffed.
"Are you kidding?" She asked in disbelief. It seems that she had been talking for quite a while.
"I was telling you about OUR double date!" She stated the obvious in frustration and I widened my eyes.
"Our? Double date?" I stuttered.
"Yes silly. I told you Brad has this friend, Mason and he is kind of into you I think, so I told Brad to tell him to go on a double date with us." She chuckled softly and I froze.

I vigorously shook my head like a stubborn child and Mia frowned.
"Oh come on! Why not?" She threw her hands in the air and removed her impeccable blond hair from her face.

Mia's always been the prettiest girl from my friends which used to make me jealous when I was younger. She has long blond hair and bright blue eyes. Her body is in a perfect hourglass shape, not to mention her perfect lips and nose. She is a natural beauty which means it is no shocker that she is Brad's girlfriend, aka the hottest guy on campus.

Suddenly I feel my tummy drop as I am met with a pair of dark chocolate eyes. There he is, leaning against a tree, his one hand on his jean's pocket and the other one holding his phone close to his face even though his attention is far from his iPhone's screen.
We don't break eye contact although I know I should ,as I said previously, stay away from him. Just cause I slept with him one night, it doesn't mean that we are in a relationship or anything.

"Really? It was just a hookup and he dumped you! Quit staring at him!" Mia said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me to a different path of the park leading far away from Dylan.

Truth be told, I hadn't told her about what happened the night me and Dylan kissed. She said she talked to him at the party. He asked her where I was when she saw me leaving with a beer in my hand. She immediately knew something was up so I had to tell her about the 'making out' part of the story but I couldn't actually tell her about the dead guy part.
"You're right" I sighed. I gave him one last look just to see a sad expression all over his face as I turned around and spent the rest of the afternoon chatting with Mia about the upcoming date.

Dylan's POV:

It's been a week since the night Rich died. I spent some time at the police department, explaining the situation. I didn't tell them about my past nor about my previous encounters with him. I just told them that he showed up with a gun and threatened us which was good enough for them and thankfully, they asked no more questions which meant that I was free to go.

I couldn't believe Rich was gone. But truly I don't think that's good. I know there's other people out there who won't be so happy about Rich's death.
People who probably wanted the money more than Rich and are planning to come and take it themselves.

Flashbacks from that night keep coming to me. Hailey standing there, afraid for her life. When he hit her, when he kissed her. It was all my fault. I couldn't take seeing her hurt like that yet I just stood there. Unable to do anything.
The very thought of her hurt and scared still haunts me. I wasn't strong enough to protect her. I should have done everything in power to save her, even if that meant hurting myself in order to protect her.
So I've spent the last week training. I will make sure I am ready to protect Hailey if anyone ever comes after her ever again. She is mine and no one should ever have the audacity to touch my girl like that.
