Chapter 2

"What if we could get her a message to and have the magic on both sides?" Caroline asked. "That's not a bad idea but the spell I would have to use would take a lot of energy so I would only be able to send one of you." I tell them. "I'll go." Jeremy says and they all start to argue. "No. I want to be the one to go. Just tell me what to do." Jeremy says. "Isn't there blood on Silas' tombstone?" Stefan asked. "Yeah. There is. We just have to get Bonnie there. But how?" Elena asked. "The Atlas." Damon says and we all look at him confused. "We were looking at the atlas one day and were planning trips to take since we didn't know how long we would be there. The only one that we planned out was to Nova Scotia. That's where Silas' tombstone is." he explains. "Okay. Say we get her the message. How long would it take her to get there do you think?" I asked. "Several hours but it could be done." he says, looking at me. "Okay, let's do this." I say and I start the spell.

An hour later, Jeremy is back and it is just a waiting game. "I think, while we wait, I am going to get unpacked and rest." I say. "Of course. That takes a lot out of you doesn't it?" Caroline asked and I can tell how caring she is. "It does. Wake me when we know something?" I asked and they all nodded yes. Walking up the stairs and to the room I am staying in, I start to unpack my things. I look up to see Damon standing at the door. "Hey." he says softly. "Hey." I reply. "I just wanted to thank you again for helping." he says as he walks into the room and sits down on the edge of the bed. Sitting next to him I say, "Damon, she's my sister. There's no way I wouldn't help." He smiles and stands. "Well, get some rest. I'll wake you when we know something." he says as he walks out of the room and closes the door.

I wake up to feel a hand brushing my hair back off of my face. Opening my eyes, I see Bonnie sitting on the side of the bed smiling. "Bon?" I asked. "Hey Sis." she says before I jump up and hug her tight. "Are you okay?" I asked. "Yeah. I'm good. How did you know to come?" she asked. "Caroline called me, like you told her to. I took the first flight out." I tell her. As we sat there talking, she asked, "How long are you planning on staying?" I thought for a second and said, "I don't know. Don't really have anything to go back to. Might stay a while if that's okay." She looks at me and smiles and tells me "Stay as long as you want. It will be good to have a little witchy help around here." I smile and we talk some more. "Hey, is there something you want to tell me about you and Damon?" I asked her. "What do you mean?" she asked. "He seemed really worried about you and last I talked to you, you hated him." She smiles and says, "When you are trapped for months on end with someone, you tend to bond. Why?" she asked. "No reason." I say and she just laughs and says "Right."

A little bit later, we are all downstairs and I see Elena basically following Damon everywhere. They seem to be talking in hushed tones and then it hits me, they must be together. Damn. Can't a girl just meet a nice guy and him not be taken? Whatever. We are all sitting around giving me a chance to get to know each other and everyone seems really cool with the exception of Elena. Seems like every time Damon even tries to speak to me, she gets pissed. We are all drinking a little and eating and I step out the back door to get some air when Elena walks out behind me. "Thanks for helping with Bonnie and Damon." she says. "No problem. I'm just glad I could." I tell her, still not looking over at her. I had been sitting outside thinking about all that had happened back home in the last few months. Losing my grandmother, my relationship and not having anything to go back to. "I saw you talking to Damon. Just so you know, he's spoken for so don't get too close." she says as she heads back towards the door. "Didn't plan on it." I tell her before she walks inside and closes the door. Maybe being here isn't a good idea. I will see what other prospects there are before I decide if staying here is worth it or not.

I must have been outside for a while because Caroline came out to sit with me. "Are you okay?" she asked. "Yeah, just thinking about things." I tell her. "You know, you being Bonnie's sister, that makes you family right? You can talk to us." she tells me and I decide to ask her something. "Thanks. Maybe you can help. I haven't told Bonnie yet but I don't have anything to go back home to. Grammy is gone, so is the house, there's nothing. But I don't know if staying here will be the best thing yet either. You guys are great and I love how you all take care of each other but I don't know if I would really fit in here. Not everyone is happy I am here." I tell her. "Well, anyone that isn't happy you are here can suck it. I think you should stay." she tells me and I start laughing. "I'll think about it." I tell her before we both go back inside. I tell everyone goodnight and head back upstairs. Damon stops me before I head up, "Are you okay?" he asked. "Yeah. I'm just still a little tired. Between the jet lag and the spell, I'm still a little worn out. I'll be okay." I tell him and head up the stairs. Sexy and caring. And apparently taken. Fuck.
