Chapter 15

The next few days were really quiet. I spent most of my time either meditating in the back yard or sitting in front of the fireplace with Damon. It's been really nice. I just came in from meditating and I see Stefan in the parlor looking a little stressed. "Stefan, you okay?" I asked. He looks at me and says "Yeah, just thinking." He responds. "You know you can talk to me right?" I asked and he sighs. "What would you say if I told you I thought I was in love with one of our friends?" He asked. "First I would ask which friend." I say. "Caroline." He says and I smile really big. "You know she's single. You are single. There is nothing wrong with asking her out. You both are good friends and there are no secrets to hide. I think it could work." I tell him. "I don't know." He says and looks back at the fire. "How about this. We have a small dinner party. Just me and Damon and you and Caroline and just see what happens." I suggest. "That's a good idea." He says and we hear Damon walk in. "What's a good idea?" He asked as he comes to me and kisses my temple. "I want to have a dinner party. Just the three of us and Caroline." I say and Damon responds "If that's what you want Princess. I'm game. I'll even help cook." I smile and say "Okay. Well, let me get a shower and I will call her. You guys get in the kitchen and start cooking. I'll get her here." I say before heading up the stairs to shower.

Once out of the shower, I grab my phone and call Caroline. "Kali. What's up?" Caroline greets me as she answers. "Hey Care. I am having a small dinner party tonight and you are invited." I tell her. "Who all is going to be there?" She asked. "You, me, Damon and Stefan. Just a little private party so don't say anything to anyone." I tell her. "Stefan? But I thought he was into Elena still?" She asked. "Nope. He has his eye on a certain chipper blonde that I think would be perfect for him." I tell her and she says "Really?" Smiling into the phone I tell her, "Be here in an hour. The guys are cooking." I tell her before ending the call. "She coming?" Damon asked from the doorway. "Yeah. I think she's a little excited." I tell him laughing. "Now, care to tell me why we are having just the four of us?" He asked. "Well, can't have a double date if the entire group is here. He likes her and she likes him and it's time to make them face it." I tell him, grinning as I walk out of the room in front of him.

An hour later, Caroline arrives and we sit down to eat. After talking for a while, dinner is done and I say, "Why don't you two hang out in the parlor while Damon and I clean up." They smile and head to the parlor while Damon and I listen in. "Caroline, I have a confession." Stefan starts. "I do too. But you go first." Caroline says. "I care about you. A lot. I would like to see where things could go with us if you are okay with that." He says and she smiles softly. "Stefan, I was going to say the same thing." She tells him. Stefan walks over to Caroline and puts his arms around her and pulls her in for a kiss. Damon and I can't help but smile. "Let's take a walk and leave them alone for a while." Damon suggests and we head out the back door.

Walking to the clearing where I meditate, Damon sits down on a log and asks me to sit down next to him. "Are you okay, Damon?" I asked. "Yeah Princess I am okay. I just wanted to give you something." He says, pulling a small box out of his pocket. Getting down on one knee, he looks into my eyes and says "Kali, you make me want to be a good man. I have never been able to say that about anyone before. I love you more than anything and it would make me the happiest man in the world if you would agree to be my wife." He opens the box and I see this beautiful vintage engagement ring and I can't help but smile. I look back at Damon and smile and say "I would love to." He pulls me up and kisses me passionately and places the ring on my finger. I kiss him again before he wipes a tear from my cheek. "I love you Damon." I say. "I love you too, Princess." He says.

After a little while of just talking and snuggling, we walk back into the house and see Caroline and Stefan still sitting in the parlor talking and laughing. We walk in and Stefan stands and hugs me. "Thank you for this." He says. "It was my pleasure brother." I say. He looks at me funny and then to Damon and realizes why I called him brother. "Really? Congratulations." He says pulling me into a bigger hug. "Someone want to fill me in?" Caroline asks a little confused. I show her my ring and her eyes go wide. "OH MY GOD! Kali! This is beautiful." She says. "Thank you. I have to call Bonnie. You want to come with me?" I asked. "Uh Yeah." She says. Walking out of the room, I see Stefan pull Damon into a tight hug and I pull out my phone to call Bonnie.

"Hello?" Bonnie answers her phone. "Hey Bon. Are you sitting down?" I asked. "Yeah, what's wrong?" She asked thinking something was wrong. "I need your help with something." I say and she starts sounding worried. "Anything. Talk to me." I smile wide and say, "I need you to help me plan my wedding." There was silence on the other end of the line and then I hear her laugh. "I was going to ask you the same thing." She says "What?" I asked. "Enzo proposed and since you are talking about planning a wedding I assume Damon proposed too?" She asked. "He did. We both laughed and talked more before ending the call. Walking into the parlor Damon asked "How'd Bonnie take it?" I smiled and said, "Looks like she and I both are getting married." I say and then laugh harder.
