I fall asleep like this, feeling an odd mix of comfortable, and awkwardly happy with being in Jasper's comforting hold.
---
What I wake up to is something tickling my face, an occasional gentle brush on my forehead, and I crinkle my nose, opening my eyes. At first, I can tell it's before dawn has gotten the chance to break the horizon. My eyes clear, and I am faced with a sleeping Jasper, his head on my chest and his hair having flopped across my face.
He snores lightly, legs tangled with mine, his arms still around my waist. I sigh happily, snuggling back into his arms. I shift back enough to where I can reach my arms around his neck, playing yet again with his hair.
These actions seem to wake him up, as he groans quietly, then groggily blinks. "Hello there," I reference, giggling quietly to myself.
"Hey gorgeous," he murmurs, and I immediately flush, my heart going from 0-100 just like that. He chuckles, poking my cheek with a finger and propping himself up on his elbow, looking glorious.
"Wow, I'll have to keep that reaction in mind, huh?" Jasper teases, and I sigh, laughing silently.
"Gotta admit, I think darling is actually my favourite pet name of all time," I confess, reverting to toying with a part of his hair again. His eyes shut peacefully, and he leans into the palm of my hand. Before anything else can happen, people start yelling for Bellamy, and I jolt up, annoyed before I realise. I forgot about Raven.
We both hurry out of the dropship, though I again have to be helped on my way down the ladder by Jasper, just in time see Raven's flaming ship hurtle through the sky. The fire distinguishes as it gets closer, the parachute deploying.
"They're coming to help us!" One boy in the group cheers, "Now we can kick some grounder ass."
"Please tell me they brought down some shampoo," a girl sighs, and I can't help but laugh a bit. Bellamy looks down at the ground.
He brings in a couple of others, and Octavia, Jasper, and I walk into his tent as they begin discussing what to do about the shuttle. "Right, if it cleared the ridge, it's probably near the lake," A kid, by the name of Jones, theorizes.
"We should get moving, everyone's ready," Octavia remarks, and I nearly interject to say there was no way I would be going with, when Bellamy interrupts.
"No one is going anywhere. Not while it's dark, it isn't safe. We'll head out at first light, pass the word." Bellamy meets my eyes for a moment, then drops his gaze, swallowing.
We all exit the tent, leaving my twin sister to confront Bellamy. I catch her first words as Jasper and I exit. "Everyone for one hundred miles saw this thing come down. What if the grounders get to it first? Bell, we should go now."
I roll my eyes, tiredly walking back to the dropship. Jasper grabs my wrist, stopping me. He hesitates, then begins. "You... you know you need to talk to Bellamy at some point, right?"
Sighing again, I nod. "I'm not ready yet. Wound is still kinda fresh, you know? I need more than just a day." I gesture to my still rubbed raw throat, red and irritated. He nods, conceding. He doesn't move though, looking at me thoughtfully.
"What is it, Jas?" I ask, and he shakes his head.
"Nothing, really." He kisses my forehead, and we start to go back to our blankets, content with going back to sleep. I know Bellamy is going to sneak out to destroy the radio, but with my leg being basically lame at this point, what good would I be if I tried to stop him?
