┕━━━━━━━━━✿━━━━━━━━━━┙It was the night before the first day of school. Isadora wanted to stay at home to relish in her last few hours of freedom from the public education system. But of course, Caroline had other plans. That was how Isadora found herself speed walking through the hallways of her school near midnight with a duffel full of gags and a cup of iced coffee.
She sent a text to her cousin to give her a few minutes after getting a barrage of messages on her whereabouts. Seeing as Isadora wasn't really fond of the plan for that night, she decided to simply come in late. That meant spending less time doing their activity.
Isadora sighed as she took a sip of her coffee, going straight for the gym. But instead of seeing students filling up cups with whatever strange liquids they could find, Isadora came face to face with a surprise.
She saw Klaus sitting on top of the bleachers with Elena trying to comfort two of their classmates as they freaked out.
"Isadora," Klaus greeted with a grin, jumping down onto the floor before speeding up to the blonde and holding onto her left wrist. "I see you kept my little gift for you."
"What are you doing, Nik?" Isadora asked as she tried to steady her breathing from her previous speed walk. "It's bad enough that I come in late. You just had to ruin a prank night, didn't you?"
Klaus let go of Isadora's wrist before wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Now, is that any way to greet family? After all, I have been treating you right, haven't I?" he asked. "Now will you answer the question I asked you last night? Why is the doppelgänger alive?"
"You've already killed her once, Nik. Unless the Original Witch had other plans, I doubt whatever problem you have concerns Elena's life," Isadora answered before turning to Elena and the other two. "Did you really have to mess with them?"
"Call it leverage, if you will," Klaus explained before pulling Isadora close. "It is good to see you, love," he then said, placing a short kiss on Isadora's cheek.
When he let go, Isadora dropped her duffel bag, knowing Klaus would most likely take care of it. She made her way to Elena who she nodded to before giving a small smile to Dana and Chad. "I'm sorry about him. He can be quite dramatic. I'll do my best to get you out of here," she told them sincerely.
Dana and Chad could only stare at Isadora in confusion. They knew this girl as the cousin of Caroline Forbes who was always the little ball of spunky sunshine. But to see someone as sweet as her be close to the man who had them on a death sentence baffled them.
Just then, everyone's attention shifted to Stefan who entered the gym.
Elena immediately stood up at the sight of her boyfriend. "Stefan," her name escaped her lips, making Stefan glance at her way before diverting his attention to the hybrid in the room.
"Klaus," Stefan greeted cautiously before his eyes shifted momentarily to Isadora who stood protectively in front of Dana and Chad.
"Come to save your damsel, mate?" Klaus asked in a bored tone.
"I came to ask for your forgiveness. And pledge my loyalty," Stefan replied.
Isadora observed as Klaus and Stefan exchanged words. She knew Klaus was right; Elena would always mean something to Stefan and he would willingly sacrifice everything he had for her. Stefan's words contradicted everything he felt. And Klaus was prepared to challenge him for that.
