I understand what was going through my head when I decided to watch Luis's practice but why does it have to be so cold? I'm wearing every piece of winter gear I could find at my house and I'm still freezing, but I have to admit this practice is pretty entertaining.
I reached into my backpack and pulled out my information packet right now would be a good time to brush up on everything that's going down at the school. As I read more of the packet I realize the man target for the threats has been the hockey team. Emails have been sent their coach, equipment has been stolen or ruined, and it's gone as far as trashing the locker rooms or the rink before practices. Of course, the agency didn't call me sooner because there was no direct threat. The school assumed it was just a prank by the varsity team until the emails started showing up more and nothing traced back to the varsity team.
It's in my best interest to stick around Adam and his team. Perhaps I could use Luis to my advantage. He likes to through himself on to me with his flirting tendencies maybe he can fill me in on all that's been happening with the team.
As I look back on the ice my eyes catch a glimpse of Luis; he isn't the best skater but he sure is fast, like a jet.
A jet.
My mind starts to travel into memories of Benny and the sandlot gang. I wonder if they have forgotten about me yet? I hope they know I haven't forgotten about them.
Snapping out of my thoughts I look back down at the pile of information and see a picture of the hockey team from the Junior Goodwill Game. My eyes glue onto Luis and he looks so familiar almost like... Benny an old version at least. It can't be though my mind is probably playing tricks on me, but it never hurts to get some information. I write a reminder down to look more into Luis Mendoza on the agency's database.
As I finish writing the reminder down I hear doors slamming which causes me to look up from my work. All the players are coming off the ice and going into the locker room. I take that as my queue to pack my stuff up and find Luis.
As I walk over to the arena entrance a man, which looks to be the coach, stops me.
"You do know these practices are private?"
"Sorry I did not. I was invited by one of your players, Luis Mendoza."
"Ah, Mendoza why didn't I realize that before." the man chuckles.
"Yeah, I hear he is quite the flirt," I say smiling.
"That boy will try to impress anything that walks in his direction. I hope you know that you aren't the first girl he's brought to these practices."
"Oh trust me coach Luis has nothing on me. I simply decided it was in my best interest to take up his offer on attending his practice so he could get over me and then leave me be."
"Smart move on your part but I don't think it will be that easy. Once Luis has his eyes on a girl he won't leave you be until something better comes his way."
"Well, I saw a bunch of cheerleaders that couldn't keep their eyes off him so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they make a move."
As I finish my sentence I hear the locker room door open and all the players trail out. Luis sees me talking with his coach and makes his way over to me with a smile.
"Hey, you decided to come." He said.
"Well, I had to see how good you played plus you offered me food," I said laughing.
"Yeah, I know a great burger place down that street. Are you ready to go?"
"Yes, it was great meeting you coach. Have a good night." I said waving to the coach.
As Luis leads me out the door I see from the corner of my eye the entire team watching us walk out the doors.
Now let's get this mission started.
