The Starter Squad (the story)

Chapter 17

Paarthurnax sat in his office, looking at a few criminal files on his desk. Pulse's file caught his eye. It has been years since the Squad started and they still haven't managed to catch him and put him behind bars. The Pokémon residents of Poketown were starting to lose hope that Pulse would never be able to get caught. Pulse has already gotten stronger—especially sense he evolved.

Paarthurnax looked at himself in the mirror beside him. "Criminals are becoming stronger and more dangerous as the days go by and yet none of us have fully evolved yet..." he sighed. He gazed at the newspaper on his desk beside Pulse's file. He sighed when he read the heading:

Starter Squad fails to catch most dangerous criminal

"Why must we be backlashed like this when the P.K Police and the Starter Squad are the only ones actually brave enough to face Pulse. There are plenty of Rescue Teams out there as well. Why don't they do anything to try to help?"

At that moment, Paarthurnax heard ringing from a phone. A Rotom phone floated towards him. "Incoming call: Levina Bolt"

"Why is Levina calling? Didn't I tell them that they were on a leave of absence from work until those eggs hatch? Unless it's urgent..." he picked it up.

"This is Paarthurnax from the Starter Squad HQ, how can I help you?" Paarthurnax asked.

"Hello Paarthurnax! We need help! Pulse is here! He's attacking the village!" Levina responded in a panic.

"What?! We're be right there!" He hung up the call and got up. He realized that his best member was still out looking for Calder. He thought about what Carrion and Nami told him a while ago.

Nami told him, "Shouldn't you be out there as well. You were the one that started the Squad."

"...We don't like that we have to do all your dirty work for you, Paarthurnax. You're just afraid to come out, are you? You just want other Pokémon to risk their lives for you... Is that it?" Carrion had said.

Paarthurnax knew that they were right. In order to keep more of the weaker Starters from killing themselves trying to fight Pulse; he had to do this one himself with a little bit of help, of course.

He quickly recruited his Wartortle friend, Nami, and they both went on their way to the Pikachu Village.

As soon as they made it to the village, they heard many blood curdling screams coming from the dying residents of the Pikachu Village. The smell of fire and burning wood hit their nostrils. They ran into the village just as Pulse burned a Pikachu alive with Flamethrower. He was dead in only a few seconds.

"The Starter Squad is here!" A Pichu blurred out.

Pulse's ears perked when he heard the Pichu's words and snarled once he spotted Paarthurnax and Nami.

"YOU!!" He growled.

"Pulse, you are under arrest for countless murders!" Paarthurnax announced.

"I don't think so, Lizard!" Pulse barked, using Flamethrower. Both Nami and Paarthurnax dodged it as it went right between them.

"Tell everyone in the village to evacuate!" Nami told a female Pikachu next to him. She nodded. "Everyone evacuate the premises!"

Pulse growled through gritted teeth. "Stay out of my way while you still can, Pathetic Squad!!" He warned as he then started to approach two eggs. He licked his lips. "Time for me to have a snack!"

Levina and Thunder both stepped out in front of him. "Don't you dare touch our eggs, Demon-Dog!" Levina shouted. Her electric sacs sparked with electricity in anger. She used Thunderbolt, shocking Pulse.

"Grrrr!!!" Pulse winced. He glared at the Pikachu with blood red eyes. "I don't take orders from anyone!! I do what I want!! Now prepare to fry, Rats!!"

Pulse clawed at Levina's face, leaving a large claw mark on her face. "How dare you!!!" Thunder growled, using Discharge. "Don't you ever put your dirty claws on my family, Criminal!!"

Pulse was shocked by electricity again. It only made him angrier. He snapped at the two Pikachu with his sharp, deadly fangs. They barely dodged it. "Thunder, he's too strong! We can't take him on alone. We have to escape and find a new home to raise our kids. We must survive for our kids sake. If we don't run, we will die without any chance for our kids to know us."

Thunder frowned. Levina was right. Pulse was blinded by a bright light. Once his vision returned, the two Pikachu, the eggs and the rest of the villagers were gone. Only Pulse, Paarthurnax and Nami remained. "Dammit!!!" Pulse swore, noticing that his meal escaped.

He turned to see Paarthurnax holding Pokecuffs in his claws. "Stay right there, Pulse. Don't even think about trying anything!" Paarthurnax said.

"I'm not afraid of you!" He growled.

Paarthurnax sighed. "I guess we're doing this the hard way then." He used Dragon Rage as Nami used Hydro Pump.

Both of the attacks headed straight for Pulse. He barely dodged the attacks before he bolted out of the village and deep in the forest.

"No!! We were so close!" Paarthurnax shouted, slamming a fist against a nearby tree in frustration.

"We'll get him one way or another..." Nami stated.

"I know! But the longer we take to catch him, the more Pokémon and Starters will lose their lives..."

Nami sighed and nodded in agreement. "But he's difficult to catch. He knows how to avoid us and do what he wants. One day he will get what he deserves though."

"I hope..." Paarthurnax replies. "All the villains in this town need to be put to justice. Even if it's the last thing I do before I leave this earth."

I may have Levina and Thunder's point of view of the whole Pulse invading the village in Thunderstruck: Levina and Thunder's story.

Also I decided to give Levina and Thunder a last name. Bolt seemed to work well for them. A Pokémon having a last name might be rare though. So don't expect every Pokémon to have one.

This chapter was actually one I just thought of so Pulse doesn't seem absent through most of the story. He is one of the major villains after all so he can't be unnoticed in this story.
