Book 1: Extra 4 - How Edith and I Met

"Hey, do you still remember how we first meet each other?" Edith asked, looking through her photo album.
"Well, know that you mentioned it, I still remember when you were a anti-social girl with no friends."
"Oh, really?!" says Hermione, who looked up from her book.
"Can you tell me about how Edith and you first met, Rowan?"
"I mean, I'm fine with it. What 'bout you?" I asked Edith.
"I don't really care either way, so go for it."
"OK, so...."

When we first met, my parents were doing business with Mr and Mrs.Fury when I saw a sleek brown hair girl about my age at the very back, with a expression that said "Don't get near me." Well, as someone who's somehow dense(?), I didn't really notice it, so I just went up to her and said, "Hi", but the response I got was not what I expected it to be.

"Get lost."
"Wha-why?"
"You're just trying to befriend me because your parents told you so." she scoffed.
"No I'm no-"
"Rowan, it's time to go." says my mom(Penny).
"Well, bye." I waved at Edith before leaving.

"And that's our first conversation went." I finished off.
"Wow, Edith. I didn't know that you were such an introvert before!" says Hermione, who's shocked.
"Well, that was a long time ago, but I've changed, OK?"
"What happened after?" Hermione eagerly asked.
"Well, what happened after was...."

"Hey, long time no see."
"Don't act all familiar with me. We've only barely met once, so screw off."

It was my second time at the Fury mansion and to be honest, I feel like it's too extra. I mean, why do you need a mansion if there's only three people living in it? As I tried to get along with Edith, she always rejected me. It wasn't until one day, when our parents were discussing something very important when she said "Wanna sneak out of the house?" It took me by surprise so I just stared at her like an idiot. "Hello? Are you alive?" I shook my head before answering "Why not?" and shrugged. We then snuck out from the back of the mansion through a crack.

"Hah.....fresh air is the best. Where do you want to go?" Edith asked.
"Well, I don't really care so you can choose."
"I mean, I've never been outside that much so....."
"OK, look. You can go wherever you want right now. It's your choice, not others."

Edith was stunned for a minute before she starting smiling.

"You know what, I'm going to take your offer and I think that we're going to become great friends."

Well.....Afterwards, me and Edith were scolded by our parents, especially Edith, who was suppose to be "disciplined" instead of being heavily scolded, but I somehow managed to persuaded the both of them, not to.

"And that's how I met Edith." I finished.
"Wow..." Hermione muttered underneath her breath.
"I know, I know. You're probably surprised by how I was when I was little." Edith rolled her eyes.
"Well, after that, we started hanging out more often after that and before I knew it, it's 5 years." I explained, sighing as I thought back to the past.

Well, that wasn't the whole story, but it's not the time to tell her. at least, not yet.....

"Rowan, do you know how dangerous it is for you to go outside alone?! Especially when your a demi-" my mom(Penny) stopped mid sentence.
"Hon, please calm down." Mother(MC) tried to calm mom(Penny) down.

Although mom(Penny) stopped mid-sentence, it was too late. Edith already suspected that someone was going on and slowly, she inched closer to me.

"What did your mom(MC) mean when she said 'demi'-something."
"....." I tried to ignore her but I silently yelped as she pinched my arm.
"What was that for?!" I quietly snarled.
"Tell me about it!" Edith insisted.  
"....I really can't....."
".....Psh, fine then." she scoffed.

As I Edith left, I felt bad. I wanted to tell her my secret, but at the same time, I couldn't.

"I think it's time to leave." says my mom while putting her hands on my shoulders.

"Uh oh, goodbye life, and hello hell." I internally screamed while being dragged outside. Using a portkey, we appeared back at our house.

"Rowan, let's have a longgggggg talk about this, alright?' says mom(Penny), who was smiling sinisterly. I felt a shiver down my spine and after that, mom(Penny) gave me a 3 hour lecture.

For a while, we didn't see each other but then one day, while my parent and I were visiting Hogsmeade, I met her again.

"Hey." Edith waved.
"Long time no see." I smiled.

we both shook hands and we catched up at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour where we bought one chocolate for me, and a salted caramel blondie for Edith. Afterwards, we went to Quality Quidditch Supplies. Well, that was what we were supposed to do, when a random old lady came over and asked the directions to "Elise's Art Space". Being the good-hearted person I was, I showed her the direction, with Edith behind me. As we took a turn, I heard a high pitched voice that sent shivers down my neck.

"What the-"
"Rowan Haywood. You thought that you could hide yourself by staying her but after a month of searc

hing, I finally found you!" screeches the grandma who turned into a demon-like creature, flying towards me with hunger in her eyes, with her claws ready to shred to into pieces.

Since we both had no wands yet, and I didn't know why this demon lady could try and kill me, I tried to avoid it while running away with Edith.

As we turned into a dead end with a well, the demon grandma found us tried to trap us in.

I pushed Edith behind me before yelling "LEAVE US ALONE!" and it's as if something was responding to me, I felt something and the next thing I knew, Edith was drenched while the demon grandma crashed into a wall, cracking it. I was surprised when I looked down and saw that I was standing on the only spot that wasn't wet. Taking the chance, I ran away while dragging Edith, who was in utter shock. As I ran for who knows how long, I saw four figures in the distance who I recgonize. Edith was sleeping on my back due to being tired from running and although I was to, I didn't want the demon grandma to catch up so I endured it. "MOM!" I screamed. As mom(Penny), Mother(MC), and Edith's parents turned around, they all gasped before running towards us.

"Rowan, are you hurt!?" Mom(Penny) screamed while checking my body for injuries.
"What happened." Mother(Mc) asked, alert.

I explained the situation to them while Edith's parents took Edith to Madam Malkin's Robes immediately after I came back and when I finished, mother(MC) ran as fast as she could(she was FAST) while mom(Penny) was shocked.

"Let's go home, Rowan."
"Wait, why?"
"Because it's dangerous."
"But what about mother(MC)?"
"She'll come back. Come on, when we get home, I can teach you a new potion." she smiled.
"OK!"

Afterwards, I went home and it wasn't until two hours later did mother(MC) came back.

"Hey, Pen. I'm going to take a bath."
"Alright, but come down right after because it's almost time for dinner."

Mother(MC) nodded.

The day after it happened, my parents explained about Greek Mythology to me and Edith while making us promise to never tell anyone about it.

"So my best friend's a demigod, huh....THAT'S AWESOME!"

Also, it turns out that Edith is one of the few people who could see monsters like demigods(except sometimes, we also get deceived by the mist) although Mother(MC) didn't tell me grandpa/grandma's name.

That's how Edith know my secret, and that's why we trust each other with our lives.
