We all get out at the next rest station like the doc promised. I help him get his medical tools he somehow managed to get into the car before we left out of the trunk. Rose and the boy however stumble over to the picnic table we were going to set up at. The doc almost has everything so I began to walk over to the table. I see the boy fall and as I'm halfway there I see Rose lay down and go limp.

"Rose!"

I dropped everything the doc had handed me to start taking over to them and ran to her side.

I shake her and call her name. Before I yell at the doctor who was bringing what he was carrying.

"Do something!"

"I am. If you would help get the stuff instead of sitting there worrying about her. I could fix her and then you wouldn't have to worry."

I do as the doc asks and get his things I dropped as well as what was left in the car. I help him set up and then he looks between Rose and the boy. Then he walks over and starts fixing the boy.

"What are you doing? Fix Rose!"

"Would you rather me fix your sister and let her lifeline die or fix her lifeline and then fix her?"

"My sister."

"Man, your coldhearted."

I look at him through teary eyes.

"If she dies, I'll cut you limb from limb and hang your head as a display and crave 'bad doc' into your skull."

I walk away and go sit in the car until he comes over there.

"You can go see her now, but be careful she just woke up and I don't carry pain killers so she's going to be in a lot of pain."

I walk over to the tent we had set up and go sit by my sister's side. She looks at me and I start crying.

"You stupid idiot. I thought you were dead."

"Not yet, so stop your crying. Do you remember my promise I made you when we first met?"

"You promised you wouldn't leave until I had found someone to take your place."

"Well have you?"

"No."

"Well then I can't leave or die yet."

We laugh and I hear her stifle a groan. I tell her it's getting late and to go to bed and then leave to go sit with the doc. We get a snack from the vending machine and then I go to sleep in the car while he keeps watch.
