lemon woke up with a nasty headache. madelyn walked into the room with water and advil. "for the hangover" she smiled
lilah, madison, and elaine walked in with pancakes "breakfast in bed for the beauty" madison smiled
"you guys treat me too well" lemon smiled and thanked them. after a few moments of silence, lemon spoke up, "so" she dragged on, not really wanting to ask "what happened last night?" madison broke out into laughter. "that bad?" lemon cringed
"that bad" maddie replied with a smile "you tried going home with some rando and drew tried to stop you"
"oh god!" lemon groaned as she shoved her face into her pillow to hide from the embarrassment
"want me to continue?"
"there's more?!" lemon groaned
"oh there's more" elaine laughed
"we got you out to the car, not after you fighting everyone who was trying to help you off, you started to yell at drew, then started to cry, then started to yell at him through the car window"
lemon shrugged, low-key happy at what happened "drunk me does have a point..."
"the whole car ride home you talked about how you felt blindsided and were expecting coming back here would make things right between you two" elaine continued "lemon, i think there are some deep feelings for him that you need to confront rather than push away"
"elaine, if you are insinuating i try to get back with someone who cheated on me, i think we need to have a talk. i know my worth, and it is way more than what he did to me"
"i think you should to him about what really happened, lemon" lilah tried to reason
"yeah, there is no way he would've done something to hurt you that deeply. he loved you so much and everyone knew it" maddie smiled sympathetically "we don't know what happened at the lunch, it could have truly been friendly"
"if he hid what he did because he didn't want me to know, that is cheating. if it truly meant nothing, he would've told me"
the girls stayed quiet, not knowing what to say. lemon had a point but they also knew how much drew loved lemon.
"just please talk to him" elaine begged
"fine" lemon rolled her eyes

lemon waited anxiously at the cafe that was new to the town, at least she had never been to it.
"lem?" drew said quietly putting his hand on the back of lemon's chair as he walked up
"drew" lemon smiled slightly. it hurt drew seeing the way her eyes lit up the smallest bit at the sight of him, but he knew things couldn't be the same. "i ordered you a black coffee"
"thank you" drew smiled. they sat in silence before drew spoke up, "i know why you wanted to talk" drew stated but didn't continue. lemon gave him a look that told him to continue. "it wasn't the way you think. nothing happened"
"then why didn't you tell me? how did it even happen?"
"she had texted me and asked if i wanted to catch up since we hadn't seen each other in awhile. i didn't think of telling you" drew finished, but it sounded like a question at the end
"you don't even sound sure of that drew. is that seriously the best excuse you can come up with?"
"yes?"
"oh my god drew, i can't do this" lemon grew annoyed as she started to collect her things
drew stopped her with his words "i couldn't handle it lem. i was constantly being told i wasn't good enough for you, that you could do better. you can only take so much until you start believing it. i needed to talk to someone. plus, you hang out with guys all the time. you and austin go out to lunch together all the time"
"that is different and you know" lemon got heated over his comparison "if you had just told me how you were feeling, instead of going to another girl for comfort. did you not feel guilty. you had to come home to me, kiss me, tell me you love me, and not once did you think about how i would feel? how could you just do that with no remorse?"
"lemon, of course i felt guilty!" drew realized he said it a little too loud and looked around the cafe before turning back to lemon "i was in a bad place. i wasn't thinking of the consequences. it wasn't cheating because nothing romantic happened" he said quieter
"did you want something romantic to happen? were you intending for something romantic to happen?"
lemon took drew's silence for an answer. she quickly stood up and grabbed her things before walking off. drew stood up to follow after but decided to stay back and watch the best thing to ever happen to walk away, leaving him behind.
