THIRTY THREE

the friend group decided to continue their night as planned, little words spoken about what they had walked in on. lemon would be lying if she said she actually watched a second of any of the movies that had been playing. her mind was somewhere else. "i just remembered i have to do something. don't wait up for me. i'll text you when i'm on my way back" she quickly moved through the apartment trying to leave before they could protest.

"oh, okay" maddie said after the door shut, the group sharing confused looks.

lemon knew where she was going, she knew what she had to do and she had to do it now.

lemon walked through the empty parking, only seeing one car...drew's car. she picked up her pace and started to run when she saw a figure standing in the middle of the football field. once she reached him she started to slow down. she was second guessing herself. she had no right to come running after him and meeting him after she completely cut him out.

"drew" she said quietly as she touched his shoulder. he quickly jumped and turned around quickly, holding his hand to his heart. "holy shit, lemon! you can't sneak up on people in the middle of the night!" he said, barely registering that lemon was standing in from of him "wait, lemon what are you doing here?"

"i knew you would be here, you're always reminiscing" lemon said with a smile

"i thought i was 'cut out' or whatever" he said with air quotes

"i was dumb to do that. you didn't deserve that, no matter what you said to me. you were right, i was only with dalton because he felt safe"

"was?" drew's eyes lit up. lemon nodded with a small smile, drew immediately picked her up and spun her around, making lemon giggle loudly.

"wait wait wait, drew" she paused as he set her down gently "i can't just jump back in with you" she could sense his hesitation "don't worry, i'm not going to make you wait for me again. i'm just asking we take it slow, like really slow" she dragged out the last two words to add emphasis

"consider me a tortoise" he smiled brightly "because baby, i'd do anything to be with you"
