After my morning run, I snuck into the new shower the other team won to rinse off the sweat and dirt. The shower was wonderful. It was a true dream come to life. The water pressure was perfect, and the temperature remained stagnant all the way through. Thankfully everyone else was beginning to wake up soon so it was the perfect time to get away with using the showers. No one had noticed I had used them. It may have been my only chance, but I would make sure that there would be many, many more.

After much needed intimate time with myself, and changing into some fresh clean clothes, I made my way to the mess hall to see my favorite chef and grab some not-so delicious breakfast to start my morning. Maybe there could be a chance to sneak off some more fruit this time if he allows it. Chris wasn't happy that he gave me some fruit a couple weeks ago but that didn't matter to him. He tries to find ways to spoil me.

I walk into the room where Chris and Chef are standing next to each other by the open door. I was the first one to arrive, as usual.

"Morning, Chef. Where's the food?" I asked since he wasn't in the kitchen.

"Don't worry about it." Chris waved off. "It'll come soon." I grumbled as I made my way into my seat before the other contestants started to file in.

"What? No breakfast?" Trent asked as he walked into the mess hall to take a seat.

"Oh, don't worry, bro. There will be plenty of food later on." Chris said. He and Chef snicker silently together. It was creeping me out.

"What are you two bozos so giggly about?" LeShawna asks them. Chef and Chris snicker silently. It's starting to get on my nerves.

"Congratulations to the remaining eleven campers for reaching the halfway mark in the competition! You'll all be on the jury for the final episode." Chris said as we cheered.

"We got the power! Yeah!" Geoff shouts as we high five cheerfully.

"The two teams will become one next week. But first, all the girls will be moved to the Gopher cabin and all the guys will stay in the Bass cabin." Chris said as Bridgette and I looked back at the other team where Heather was smirking. Oh no. I was not ready for the merge.

No one said we were going to have to live with them. They're... gross. And more mean than me. Bridgette was at least tolerable. Now Heather and Gwen? It's like a big, unwanted slumber party that was never asked for. Hopefully they'll all go soon. Except for Lindsay. She can stay.

"This week's challenge is as old as history itself. A battle of the sexes." Lindsay blows a raspberry at the guys. "After everyone is settled in, I'll announce the challenge. And then, you'll have an uh... bite to eat. Ready for a little good news? This week, no one will be kicked off." We all cheered happily. "It's all for reward and it's a good one. Okay, time to relocate. Let's move!"

"Wow, your hair looks great today. So natural." Heather said complimenting Bridgette's hair as we were walking together to leave the mess hall. I wasn't fooled. I kept my guard up more than usual. If she wants to play, she'll have to play my way.

"Thanks, I–"

"Oh my goodness, I was just going to say the same thing about you!" I said acting unlike myself with a fake persona of unnecessary kindness. My bubbly side came out, tittering my head as my curls bobbed side to side as the fakest smile slipped through the cracks of my teeth.

"What are you doing?" sneered Heather with a notorious frown.

"What are you doing?" I ask in return grinning wider.

"I'm just being nice and giving a proper welcome to our new fellow guests that are about to live in our cabin." Heather says, trying to sound warm and sentimental, but her words meant nothing more as it slipped off without the faintest cry of compassion.
