Chapter 3 - Genin

A couple of days after I was granted my headband and official rank of genin by that mysterious man, I met Lee inside the classroom to wait for who our Jonin leader was. 'I can't wait for this Y/N!' Lee shouted to me. 'I wonder who our Jonin leader will be, maybe Guy-Sensei?!' He shouted excitedly and I nodded in agreement.

'Ok, class take your seats, I will be announcing who you're teaming up with and you will then wait for your team leader.' Our teacher told us. I was as excited as Lee but kept it to myself. I just hope I'm teamed with Neji, to show him my progress. 'On Team 13 will be, Rock Lee, Neji Hyuga and TenTen.' Our teacher announced to my disappointment. My Best friend, My Crush and My Rival were all separated from me. I was upset and I wanted to leave but...

'Hold on a minute!' A familiar voice boomed in the Academy corridor. My face brightened up as he walked into the room, rather extravagantly. 'You, sir, have made a grave mistake, you have forgotten to include my dear student!' Guy-Sensei yelled out to our teacher. 'Y/N! You will be on my team with Neji, Tenten and Lee! Now, you four follow me, this is the start of your youth, let's not waste it!' Guy marched out of the classroom as me and Lee hastily followed with Neji and Tenten following behind.

On a balcony, Team 13/Team Guy met to discuss our ambitions. 'So, what do you guys aspire to do under my tutelage?' Guy asked us. Me and Lee raised our hands in unison.

'I want to become a powerful ninja with only taijutsu and taijutsu only!' We said simultaneously as Guy smiled.

'Yes! You boys are showing the true nature of Youth! I will be sure to help you two along the way!' Guy told us as we both smiled.

'You can't be serious, Sensei. Only Taijutsu? What a joke.' Neji scoffed at our ambitions. 'I mean, what your saying is impossible and Y/N I already know that destiny has already chosen your fate, that you will just be a worthless human shield for those stronger.' Neji claimed. I was furious at the Hyuga, I stood up and clenched my fist ready to teach him something.

'Neji Hyuga, you may like to cling to this 'destiny' idea but I will prove you wrong one day and I can't wait to see your face when I do prove you wrong!' I told him as I turned my fist into a thumbs up and I smiled widely.

'Fine, I'll be ready for that day even if I won't be alive to see it.' Neji smugly grinned as he sat back in the chair.

'I see you two have already established yourselves as eternal rivals! This will help you both become great ninjas! Now, Neji what do you aspire to do?' Guy asked.

'Just as every branch family member has done, serve the main Hyuga family. This is the fate I have been born into, to protect and serve the Hyuga.'

'Tenten, what do you wish to do?' Guy asked her.

'Well I have always wanted to be like Lady Tsunade, the best ever kunoichi but I lack everything she has.' Tenten said rather disappointed with herself.

'Well we can always work on what we lack, that's what training is for!' Guy said to the group. 'Tomorrow, we will start team training! So be ready to really push yourselves!' Guy announced to us and then left us.

'Hey Lee, let's go to our spot for a bit.' I told Lee who agreed and we quickly left. We then went to our location that had our tree stump wrapped in some rope so we could improve ourselves. I trained my punching whilst Lee trained his kicks, that's how it always has been. I was the guy who punched hard and Lee was the one who gave swift kicks.

'Hey Y/N... do you think... we'll be on a big mission soon?' Lee asked me between breaths as he was panting.

'I'm not too sure Lee...we only just became Genin... but I believe we'll get to knock some sense into some petty thefts around the Land of Fire soon enough!' I said slightly tired.
