Chapter 15

Adam's POV

Austin and I went into the burning building and I looked around the room. Walls were on fire, parts of the ceiling were falling down and the whole building was creaking. Austin came close to me and I shoved him away.

"Let's find Bre," I shouted over the noise of the fire.

"Okay!" Austin said then he went into a coughing fit from the smoke.

Fear filled me as I looked blindly around the room for a door. I saw one and I grabbed Austin's hand as I dragged him through the door just as that part of the room caved in.

"I'm scared Adam!" Austin shouted as we ventured deeper into the flames.

"Don't be afraid, Austin. We'll find Breanne soon then we'll get out!" I shouted back.

Instead of him answering, he squeezed my hand and he followed me closely. I coughed and my eyes stung and my chest hurt. If we stay in here too long, we'll die! I thought as Austin and I called for Breanne and Rowan. We went deeper into the intense heat and I felt my skin blister and sweat formed on my face. I glanced behind me at Austin who was on the phone. He then closed the phone and his face glistened with sweat.

"I texted your parents to call the fire department," he said.

I nodded my head and I opened my mouth to speak but closed it when I heard someone calling my name. I listened closely and I heard the voice come from behind me. A smile spread across my face as I led Austin through another doorway towards the shouting. We dodged parts of the ceiling that fell and we eventually found Rowan helping Breanne stand up. I noticed that she was beaten up. I grew angry.

"What did you do?!" I shouted at him, which was a bad idea since I went into a coughing fit.

"That doesn't matter!" Rowan shouted back, "what matters is that we get out of here!"

I realized that he's right. Rowan and I helped Breanne walk while Austin was behind us. All around us the building was threatening to cave in at any moment. I saw the door in front of us and I heard Austin yell my name. I stopped and I looked behind me. Austin was trapped in the room behind us.

"Austin!!!" I shouted as I felt the urge to go rescue him too.

"Adam, go get Breanne out. I'll get Austin," Rowan said.

I looked at him, I was angry at him but I listen to him. I helped Breanne outside into the clean air and the Firetruck and an ambulance pulled up and my family and Breanne's parents showed up. We reached them and the paramedics looked us over. While they were taking care of my blisters, Breanne leaned up against me.

"Hey Breanne? Can I tell you something?" I asked

"Yeah sure," she replied.

I exhaled slowly and I said,

"I love you. I've had a crush on you since high school."

Breanne's POV

I looked at Adam who had disgusting blisters on his face.

"You really like me?" I asked with a faint smile on my face.

Adam smiled and he shook his head 'yes.' I hugged him and the building suddenly caved in. I felt Adam shove me off of him and he ran towards the building screaming Austin's name. Two firefighters stopped Adam and I got up and walked over to him. Adam was crying and I hugged him. He hugged me back and we stood there until he shoved me off of him again. Adam stared at the caved in building like he was a deer in the headlight.

"Austin?!" He called

"Adam!?" I heard Austin call

I made the mistake from looking towards the building and I saw Austin limping towards us. I saw Adam stand still as a statute until Austin was face to face with Adam. I watched Adam looked at me then he looked at Austin with a smile on his face.

"Austin," Adam said softly.

Then what they did next made me gag. Austin kissed Adam....passionately. I stared at him and tears formed in my eyes as this lasted for twenty minuets.

"Adam?!" I said

No response.

"ADAM!" I shouted.

He still didn't respond. I yelled and I pulled Adam off of Austin. He looked at me and his eyes grew wide.

"Y-you lied to me! You don't love me. You just said that!" I shouted, "you only love one person...and that's not me. It's Austin."

"Breanne, please I'm not gay," he said.

I punched him.

"You keep saying that but you are!" I shouted, "Adam you always will be gay!"

Now he was frowning.

"Breanne i can prove it to you. Just give me a chance," he said.

I glared at him.

"Fine! But until you actually find a way to prove it," I said, "NEVER SEE ME AGAIN!"

Then before he could respond, I stormed away from Adam. I heard him calling me but I ignored him and I walked away with my parents while I was sobbing.

Adam's POV

I stared at Breanne as she walked away. I didn't know if I should be angry or upset. I think I was both. I was angry at Austin for kissing me and I was upset at Breanne.

"Adam I'm sorry for kissing you. But I did enjoy it," he said.

I looked at him with my heart pounding in my chest.

"I'm frustrated with you but I did like it," I said.

Austin smiled.

"I knew you still liked me!" He exclaimed as he kissed me again.

I pushed him away and I was breathing heavily.

"Shut up," I said playfully, "now I gotta go prove to Bre how I'm not gay. Goodbye Austin."

"Goodbye Adam," he replied.

Then I walked away from Austin and I went to my family. They attacked me with hugs and I got them off of me. We then went to the car and I got in.

"Adam, we've been talking," dad said while he drove down the road.

That made me get scared.

"About what?"

Mom sighed and she said,

"You need to choose either Austin or Breanne. I'd prefer you choose Breanne because we don't want you to be gay anymore. I saw you kiss Austin....twice. We all did."

Brielle made me look at her.

"We love you, Adam. But we don't like you being gay," she said.

I yelled angrily and I punched my sister in her face causing her to get a bloody nose. Dad stopped the car and my parents stared at me.

"What the heck is wrong with you!?" My parents shouted.

"I frickin' hate you guys!" I screamed.

Then I got out of the car and I ran into the woods leaving my family behind.
