Breanne's POV

I was curled up in a corner as Rowan repeatedly hit me in various places. Once he even cracked my rib. I tried fighting back but that didn't work. Blood trickled out of my nose. I was now sobbing and covered my face with my arms. Rowan suddenly stopped beating me after abusing me all day and he made me look at him.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked weakly

"Because I can," Rowan replied, "now I'll be right back and you better be here. Don't even think about escaping missy."

Then Rowan violently threw me on the ground and I watched as he went out. He even left the door opened a little. But even if I wanted to escape, which I do, I can't because my body aches all over and I may have a concussion. I tried sitting up but I couldn't.

"Adam please find me soon," I whispered as Rowan came in a few minuets later.

I saw him come near me with a tray and he helped me sit up.

"Here. I thought that you'd like some water," he said as he gave me the cup.

"Thanks," I said, " and I still hate you."

Rowan laughed in response as I took a sip of the water. I didn't know how thirsty I was until I drank the whole thing. I handed the cup to Rowan and a loud ringing noise filled my ears. I felt Rowan lay me on the ground and we made we contact.

"Sweet dreams," he said.

Then I blacked out.

Adam's POV

I stood at the old movie theater reading a text Rowan sent me. It had so many typo errors that I couldn't make out what said. And it's dark out and it's been seven hours since he sent me a clue. The least he could do was make it readable.

"How's it going?" Austin said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and he rested his head against my shoulder.

"Get. Off. Me. Now," I said angrily through gritted teeth.

"Come on Adam," he whispered, "you know you want it."

I muttered under my breath and he kept whispering things to me.

"If I kiss you Austin will you shut up?" I asked him

"Hmm....no." He said as he let go of me and took the phone from me.

"Hey! Give it back!" I shouted

Austin smiled playfully as he kept the phone out of my reach. I grew angry and I glared at Austin. He smiled.

"You're so cute when you're mad," he said.

"Stop flirting with me Tofte and tell me what the text says so I can find Breanne!" I shouted at him.

Austin ruffled my hair then he read the text. He looked up and he handed me the phone back and my parents and sister joined us.

"They're at the old power plant near Kaplan's Woods Parkway," Austin said.

"Okay then," I said, "Let's go rescue Bre."

Then I started walking West towards the parkway. I stopped and I looked at everyone who was staring at me.

"Adam how about you and Austin go rescue Breanne," my sister said, "mom, dad and I are going somewhere where you can't be."

I grew angry and Austin smiled as he came over to me. He stared ranting how it'll just be the two of us and we'll have fun together. However, my definition of fun and his definition are completely different.

"Fine. Let's go Austin," I said.

Then the two of us headed towards the old power plant. While we walked, Austin kept flirting with me and I ignored him. An hour passed and he shut up when we neared the power plant. I felt my heart leapt in my mouth as I stared at the burning building. How long has it been on fire? I thought as Austin and I quickly exchanged worried glanced then we ran inside the burning building to rescue Breanne.
