Chapter 12: Screams From The Hallway And Other Unknowns

The whispers are lowering and the scream is getting louder as I walk near the door. I get close to a chair and duck down and wait. I hear a slight movement. Kind of like a slight breeze. I fall to my butt and sigh. Then, I look up and see a white figure.

The figure looks at me and lunges to attack me. I scream and cover my head with my arms. I feel hands and my shoulders. I look up and see Levi standing in front of me. "Hey, are you okay?" He asks.

We are sitting at the dining room table. I am still shocked into silence. Levi takes a drink of his tea. He holds it in such a unique way. He has his fingertips around the rim of the teacup. He puts it down and looks up at me. He raises his eyebrows and stares until I answer.

"So, uh, that noise scared the absolute shit outta me. Do you know what it was?" I ask and tilt my head to the side. I take a sip of the tea after I blow lightly on it.

"Oh, you know, I have a friend named Hanji, she is bat-shit crazy and doesn't leave me alone in the night. That was the scream and whispers." He says and picks his cup up again and takes a drink. "And the white figure, that is Ralph, he is a ghost that lives here. He is usually friendly, or he just stares at you."

My eyes are wide and Levi just sits there like it is another story that is swimming through the paper. I take a drink of tea and put it down. I put my forehead in my hands and look at the applewood table. I look up and see Levi getting up and putting his cup in the sink.

"You done?" He asks coming back. I quickly finish it off and nod. This is going to be a long two weeks.
