As I walked closer to the school, the doors opened slowly revealing a woman wearing a pointy witch hat.
"Hello, Mrs. Heart. I am Professor Mcgonagall." She motioned me to follow her, so I did.
"This way to the Great Hall so we'll begin your sorting." She said as she walked towards two large doors. She then opened them and turned to me as she gave me a warm smile. "Come on, I'll walk beside you so you won't be too nervous." She said, clearly noticing I was scared out of my mind.
I walked into the hall with Professor Mcgonagall beside me. She had her hand on my shoulder. There were four huge tables and they were each filled with hundreds of students. They were all looking at me as I walked in, which made me even more nervous. I kept my eyes glued to the floor to avoid making eye contact with anyone. I could hear whispers from all around me. I felt like throwing up.
Professor Mcgonagall led me up the steps in front of the whole room. I noticed there were older looking people sitting at a table in the front. I made eye contact with an old man with a long white beard. He smiled at me and nodded. I only nodded not having time to think when Professor Mcgonagall motioned me to sit on a seat...in front of everyone....great.
"I'm about to put a hat on your head. It's a magic hat so it's going to talk and sort you into your house, okay?" She explained to me in a whisper so I wouldn't be frightened when there was a talking hat on my head. I was so grateful.
"Thank you so much" I whispered. She then gave me a surprised smile as she nodded and went for the hat. I looked around at the tables and nearly passed out when I realized everyone's eyes were still on me.
I decided to look around the room anyways, feeling a little better as I held the necklace granny gave me, and I noticed each table had a different color arrangement and ties around the students necks. There were also two other groups of people. One being a group of girls in blue uniforms and the other being a group of boys in dark uniforms. I also noticed two ginger boys staring straight at me. They were both smirking at me and I realized they must be Mrs. Weasley's twin boys.
They kept staring at me so I stared back at them. It soon became a staring contest and when they both blinked at the same time (that kinda freaked me out) they both laughed a little too loudly which caused everyone's eyes to turn to them instead of me. I was relieved but the pleasure didn't last long. Professor Mcgonagall was coming back to me with a witch hat at hand.
I took a deep breath as everyone's eyes focused on me again. She put my hat on my head slowly and then everyone in the room was silent. It was such a dramatic moment as everyone waited for the hat to be placed on my head.
The second it was placed on my head, there was a loud gasp which made everyone in the room jump, especially me.
"Pick me up, Minerva! Pick me up!" Cried the hat in a deep scratchy voice as Professor Mcgonagall quickly lifted the hat back up.
"Wait no put me back. Put me back." Commanded the hat.
"You scared the living pee out of me." I whispered to no one in particular but also soft enough so no one in the crowd could hear.
The hat laughed and said "Wow, I've never herd that one before." It laughed again but quickly stopped and said "Stop distracting me girl!"The crowd was obviously puzzled and everyone was trying to lean closer to the front to be able to hear. It didn't look like it was working.
I muttered a quiet "Sorry." Before he started again.
"Hmmm... Very odd. Very odd indeed... I could put you in any house and you would succeed in all... I see good things in Huffelpuff." He said as the yellow themed table started to celebrate quietly and the rest of the tables looked quite annoyed.
