~Edited chapter. My god I am going to have a cringe attack from my horrible grammar and spelling. WHY DID YOU PEOPLE DECIDE TO READ THIS BOOK!? HOW DID YOU PEOPLE DEAL WITH THE GRAMMATICAL AND SPELLING ERRORS!?~

Today, we worked on Cross Country. My favorite.

As I gallop across the field, Sunburst on my side, I hop over small jumps and logs. Zoey bumps along on my back, urging me to go faster. The sun beats down on my grey coat, making me wet with sweat.

"Hope you like losing." Sunburst neighed. "Because your about to." he said as he pulled in front of me. Scarlet, Button, Calypso, Chili and Aztec were far away from me, so my only real competition was Sunburst, who was a natural at the sport.

"In. Your. Dreams." I said, panting, as I run in front of him. I jump a larger log, landing silently on the other side, and gallop farther ahead. Sunburst jumps the log clumsily, and lands at a trot-canter. I gallop even faster, knowing that he was now well behind me, stuck in the herd of the other horses.

I gallop the last jump, a small blue vertical with a small pit of water after it, and canter across the spray painted grass, marking the finish. Will, who was standing at the finish, yells "Zoey wins!". Jimber gives a small neigh and a snort before trotting over.

"Wow Pepper! That was your best time yet!" He says. I swish my tail, for some reason, my face feels warm.

"Thanks." I say. He looks like he wants to say something, but instead he stays quiet. Just then, Sunburst comes galloping across the finish line, Scarlet and Button strides behind him. Seconds later, Calypso "tranters" across the white line, and finally Chili and Aztec run across the grass.

"Great race!" Sarah shouts to the other riders.

"Ya, since won!" Zoey says, bragging.

"We won." I correct her. She always forgets about me. Sadly, all she hears is a neigh from her horse.

"That's right Pep!" She says, "You are the best horse!"

"That's not what I said" I grumble.

"Lets go for a trail ride, it'll cool them off." Will suggests. "Go take off your saddles and meet in front of the barn." He states. Then, he and Jimber trot off. We follow. I swear, I could feel Jimber's eyes on me the whole way to the barn. And when we were untacking, he congratulated me on my win for the fourth time.

Soon we are in front of the barn, waiting for Will. He and Jimber walk out of the stable, saddle-less.

"Ready?" He asks, mounting Jimber.

"Ready!" The girls and Bailey shout, mounting their horses.

"Then lets go!" Will states, leading the way. I follow close behind Jimber, and soon Jimber slows down. He was right next to me. He looked at me, but still managed to keep his head straight ahead.

"What are you doing?" I ask.

"Nothing." He responded. I look at him. He was sweating in the nice June afternoon. It made him look....nice. Like a hard worker, which he was. He smiled a little.

"What?" I ask him.

"Nothing!" He says. I see him blushing under his fur.

"Your blushing." I state.

"No I'm not!" He whinnies. He then bumps the side of his rear end against mine. I whip my head back to him.

"What the heck was that?"

"What?"

"You bumping you butt against mine!" I Whitney.

"Oh." He says smiling. "It was an accident."

"Uh huh, sure it was." I respond. He then looked ahead again, looking to the future. I do the same.

"Sorry." He says after a few minutes of awkward silence.

"It's okay." I say. "Just don't do it again." But inside, I wanted him to do it again. Something happened when he touched me. It felt like an electrical current going through me.

The rest of the trail ride, I stare at him. He stares at me.
