Everyday I got a little better. The next day, I stood again, and ate some mush. Next day, I walked in tight circles around my stall while Jimber and Amber cheered me on.  Today I even took a carrot from Zoey.

But every night, I found myself fantasying over that foal. My  foal. My beautiful, strong, handsome colt who was proud of his parents. Jimber and I. I know that it would probably never come true, but there was hope.

When I wake up this morning, Zoey greets me with a carrot and mush. After I eat, she slips my halter on over my head and leads me out to the pasture. The other horses are already out there. Before she lets me loose,  she kisses my nose and quietly says, "I will be back in half an hour girly. Please eat some. Exercise. The she  undoes the halter and closes the fence. I immediately walk over to Jimber, and we stand there, nuzzling each other. As he grazes, I watch Amber and Sky playing together. They make me smile.

"Um....Jimber." I say, thinking about my recent dreams. He looks up, grass still in his mouth.

"Ya?" He asks.

"I've been meaning to um....talk to you about something." He looks at me in concern.

"Is everything all right?"

"Ya." I say. "I um just......um." I couldn't finish. So instead, I try to explain. "Um, ever since...the colic happened.....I've been having these....dreams....." I say, trying to explain. His ears perk.

"About what?" He asks, concerned.

"Um, well...." I say, biting my lip. "About a colt.... our colt." He stares at me in disbelief.

"Our colt!?!" He repeats. I nod.  "We have hardly been together for a week! And now your thinking about having a foal?!?" You could tell he was furious.

"No! No! It's not like that. I don't want to ave a foal now, it wasn't my choice to have the dreams! But I was thinking, maybe, sometime down the road...." tears form in my eyes. When he sees them, he nuzzles my cheek.

"Hey. I'm sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, I would love to have a foal with you someday. But not now."  I nod in agreement. We then lay down together in the soft grass and cuddle, watching the foals frolic and play.
