I frolic in the pasture, close by Jimber. The others do the same. It was late spring, the middle of April. The sun was shining brightly, the flowers looked (and smelt) amazing. Butterflies danced in the crisp light blue sky. We watch the foals doing there thing. Doing their dressage routine. Then, emerging from the young herd of foals, is my son. A strong grey colt, with black mane and light blue streaks. He has a star in the middle of his face, and soft green eyes. He trots up to me.
"Hey mom!" he calls. "Watch me!" He then starts doing combination of jumping and dressage. A prance there, a hop there. It was a stupid thing to watch, but I found pride and joy in my son. My son. He smiles as he does his routine, prancing happily from one side of the pasture to the other. "Are you watching?" He calls.
"Yes Comet! I am!" I reply, and he smiles. I'm glad he was enjoying himself. Amber trots up to him, and does there routine together, whinning in enjoyment. They had been become good friends. I snuggle next to Jimber, who smiles at Comet as he grazes.
I was no longer unloved. I had a caring stallion and a loving colt. I had everything I needed. And so much more.
