I fix the pearl necklace hanging loosely around my collarbone. Smoothing over my matte natural nude lipstick, my eyes scan over my appearance in the long full-body mirror.
A cream colored t-shirt is tucked into my navy skirt. Since it's the beginning of June, I decided to part my hair into a side braid. I don't need to have sweat pooling on the back of my neck while I work outside in the heat.
Instead of heels I decided to wear flats. I wanted to keep my look casual yet sophisticated. I spray on some Chanel No. 5, which is my favorite perfume, and feel satisfied that my look is now completed.
I head out of my best friend's room, taking my equipment with me.
"Would you get out of my way? I need to get the bread." Jade angrily growls while watching her twin brother stand in front of the refrigerator.
Adam is shirtless, of course. His phone is pointed outward and he's posing for a picture. I roll my eyes at the sight.
"I need to flex for this girl. She's coming to the bonfire tonight." He sticks his tongue out and snaps the photo.
"I don't care, I'm trying to make a sandwich." Jade groans.
Thinking quick, I pull my fully charged camera out of my bag. I have a new SD card in it for today's shoot. "I can take a professional picture of you, Adam."
His eyes meet mine and a smirk curves his lips. "Ah, hey Mackenzie. I forgot you were here."
"I didn't, her clothes are all over my room." My best friend loves to tease me.
"And you're an amazing bestie for letting me get ready here. I can't wait for my house to not be under construction." I roll my eyes and pop my hip out.
"Your mom really did a lot, huh?" Jade finally pushes Adam out of the way, which he scoffs at.
"Yeah, especially without my dad around now. She wanted to complete the things he couldn't." My voice lowers as I step into the kitchen.
"If you want any help, let me know. The boys and I will fix anything you need." Adam says before taking another picture of his abs.
"Okay Bob the builder." I laugh and shake my head.
"I would pay to see you, Grayson, and Ethan attempt to fix up a house." Jade says with a chuckle.
"We'd get it done quickly, are you serious? It's a gun show with the three of us." Adam flexes and I burst out laughing. He's a total tool, even though I love him like a brother.
I only met Adam and Jade two and a half years ago when I transferred to Coastal Carolina University, but we clicked immediately. Adam was Grayson's roommate during their junior year.
He also played football with him and was praised as the best quarterback in the state. I was happy to find out he had a twin sister who was exactly like me.
Jade and I are secret soulmates. We think the same, dress the same, have the same music taste. Our personalities mesh great together, she's truly the Serena Van Der Woodsen to my Blair Waldorf. We're both headstrong and fight for what we want.
"Anyway, Mackenzie you look gorgeous. That old man is going catcall you." Her plump lips twist into a smirk.
"Old man?!" Adam's eyes widen as he turns to look at me. "What are you up to Harris?"
"Relax it's not what you think. Some man wants me to take pictures of his minivan. He's paying me good money so I'm not complaining."
"Where's the job?" Jade takes a bite out of her sandwich.
