I feel my eyes open to the brightness of the sun. Glancing over at the clock, I realize it was 9:00 am. I had no memory of falling asleep.
The memories of last night flood black. I sigh thinking of how perfect our family could of been. What I could of had.
I rolled over to face my nightstand. Picking up my phone, I see a few missed text from Noah asking how I was doing. I respond before heading downstairs.
Which I was absolutely dreading. What would I say? What would he say? I see my mom is still asleep on her bedroom along with Jack in his room. As I make my way down the stairs, I notice the couch a mess, meaning that is where my father slept. I was a little surprised my mom let him stay. I see bags piled up by the door. I frown a little more. I knew it was coming, but to see it all play out, was scary.
i reach the bottom of the stairs which gives me a fully view of the kitchen. Sitting in the kitchen, I see my father eating a bowl of cereal.
He quickly notices me.
"Hey Cass," he says.
Like he didn't break our family apart. Like everything is normal.
"What time are you leaving," I ask him in a stern tone.
He looked a little shocked.
"Once your brother gets up," he answers.
"I don't think he'll care," I say.
"Well I care," he argues.
"No, you don't care. Because if you cared you wouldn't of cheated in the first place. You wouldn't live a whole double life," I say raising my voice a little.
"Cass..." he says motioning me for to lower my tone.
"No. You have no right to say that. Why did you do it. Why did you leave us. Were we not good enough? Is that it?" I say.
"Listen," he says getting angry.
"I had a job far away. And I was lonely. You or your mother never contacted me. I met someone else," he explains in a hushed tone.
"Oh, so that makes it okay? Because a 40 year old man couldn't stand a little loneliness because of a career path he chose? So you went and replaced us," I say.
"You don't understand, Cassidy," he says.
"No, I understand perfectly." I say making my way to the stairs.
"Cassidy don't leave," he begs.
"My job got me stressed out and-" he continues.
"Your only job was to stay. But you couldn't even do that," I say walking up the stairs.
I passed Jack on the way up. I looked at him and continued to my room.
I laid on my bed closing my eyes. But was soon interrupted by the yelling coming from downstairs.
"YOU CANT DO THAT TO ME. OR MY KIDS. YOU RUINED THEM. AND FOR WHAT? SO YOU CAN LIVE IN LUXURY." My mom shouted.
More shouting went on. Between my parents and Jack.
"Cass, really looked up to you. How do you think she feels? You hurt her." I hear Jack say.
I turned over to my side. Not much time went by. I just wanted him gone.
I was hurt, really hurt. But I was also doing just fine without him. I don't need him.
At the same, I think I was just trying to convince myself it was better off this way.

A couple hours went by. My dad was finally gone. I watched him pull out from the drive way. That was it. I could hear my moms sobs from her room. It wasn't until Jack knocked on my door that I moved. I turned over and Jack told me to get up.
"Why?" I asked tiredly.
"Because you can't be sad all the time," he states.
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere. You can ask Noah too," he says.
I nod and slightly smile.

I turn on my phone and look at the missed messages from Noah asking if I was okay. I quickly responded and then told him to meet at my house.
After a minute I get up and get dressed trying to forget the dreaded thoughts. I look in the mirror. My face was still a little red. I splash cold water on and grab my shoes before waiting downstairs.

Noah knocks at the door and I jump up to answer.
"Hey cutie," he says.
"Hola amigo," I reply as he pulls me into a hug kissing me on the cheek.
We go over to the kitchen and I grab some waters for the both of us.
"Are you okay?" Noah asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I sigh a little.
"Cassie, really, are you okay?" He ales once again.
I look him in the eye and my eyes start to water.
Without saying anything, he wraps me into a big hug. It takes all my strength, but I don't let any tears out.
"It's so stupid," I say.
"No it isn't. He was a big part of your life. It's okay to feel this way. It's going to be okay, I promise." He comforts me.
"Thanks Noah,"
We pull apart and sip our water.
"Promise you won't leave? I can't deal with that kinda shit again." I say looking up at him.
"I promise." he answers.
But things change I guess. People make promised to break them.
I smile at him and then hear Jack coming down the stairs. He says hello to us and Noah looks at me confused.
I give him a thumbs up with a 'I'll explain later book'.
He nods a chuckles.
Jack goes to the door and opens it, and Finn is standing there.
"Hey Finn!" I exclaim.
"Hey Cassssssssieeeeeee" he says back.
"This is Noah," I tell him while smiling.
"I'm Finn," he waves.
"So where are we going?" I ask Jack while popping a grape in my mouth.
I love grapes. But only the green ones
"To the fair," he says.

And with that, we get our bikes and stop at Wendy's first because it was still light out.
"How can you not get the chicken nuggets?" I ask Noah.
"How CAN you get the chicken nuggets." He replies.
"They are perfect. Especially with the sauce," I argue.
We talk about chicken nuggets for a bit before deciding  to head to the fair. It was mostly all locals there. Not too known by tourists.
We walk outside and hop on our bikes. This should be fun.
