Boreen went flush from embarrassment. "I apologize that was rude of me."

"No, that was cute of you my chief," Grantaw said still chuckling, "wasn't it Mue?"

"Very much so mother." Boreen saw the light glint off one of her fangs as it sparkled like a star. "My mother tells me you would like to get to know me my chief." Her tail twitched in the air as she giggled out the words.

"Only if you will give me a chance. I know we haven't met before now but, it could help the village."

"As I thought you wish to stop the fights through soul binding? Marriage may be likely but you must earn my soul." The laughing tone had been given up for one of rage.

"You misunderstand, I only wish to see if it's a possibility, I wouldn't want to be stuck with someone I didn't want to be with. I'd rather give up as chief and let the uprising take me to their gallows." Boreen looked completely sincere in his words, it surprised Mue.

"I'm busy my chief," a look of defeat came over Boreen, "but you may join me for my chores." Boreen looked at Grantaw. She smiled at him and nodded.

"Of course Mueaw, I will do what I can to help." With that Mue took off towards the edge of town. At first, Boreen was confused, it seemed she had taken the longest path possible to get where she was going, but after some time it clicked, she was showing off that they were spending time together. If the villagers saw that the daughter of the former chief and the current chief were together maybe they would calm down. He was slightly surprised by how smart she was. He felt he was a smart individual but never even thought of just being seen together. He could see the people in the village taking notes. Instantly it felt like he was just out doing chores instead of going on a date. He fully relaxed and focused on the tasks at hand, the first being gathering some wood for that night's cooking fire. The manual labor turned out to be exactly what Boreen needed. He got lost in the work instantly. From collecting wood to gathering roots it all just put him at peace. He didn't even notice the amount of time that had passed as he did the chores. It caught him off guard when Mue tapped him on the shoulder.

"Its time for us to head back to the home, I'm sure dinner will be ready." Boreen just whipped his brow of sweat and followed Mue back to her home. When they got there he could smell the roots they had collected earlier in the day being cooked by Grantaw. He quietly took his seat at the table with Grantaw and Mue and just enjoyed the meal. He hadn't had a family of his own in many years, only the clan he was part of. It felt nice to eat with a family. He silently enjoyed the chatter between the two female cats. Finally, he stood up and bowed his head.

"Thank you for the meal Grantaw. I hope to see you again very soon. We have much to work on. Thank you as well Mue for letting me help you out today." Mue got up from the table and walked him to the door. "Thank you again. It was nice." He bowed his head again, as he did Mue got up on her toes and kissed him on the cheek.

"I hope to see you again my chief." Again Boreen found himself blushing and nervous. Quickly he headed out the door and back to his home.
