Kageyama always had a thing for flowers, though it might not seem like it. He really enjoyed being in the company of flowers. And well, a certain somebody had recently found out about that, a peculiar blondie in particular.
The team was doing the usual thing they do after practise. Going to coach Ukai's store to get meat buns. However, this time Hinata was jumping around beside Kageyama glancing at his phone screen, "Oi kageyamaaa-san how come you have flowers as your wallpaper." He had set his wallpaper as a sunflower recently due to a certain trip, that he had gone to with his family. Although the photo was slightly blurry, Kageyama had a sense of triumph as he set it to his new wallpaper. It's no lie that Volleyball was the only commendable thing he was good in.
"..i just like sunflowers a lot, or just flowers in general-" Tsukishima was conveniently at a close enough distance to hear him say that. It would definitely come in handy after all. With a slight smirk he swiftly walked passed the idiot duo leaving Kageyama with a snark reply. "It seems even the king could appreciate things like flowers huh." It sure was a shame that Kageyama wasn't able to see the look on Tsukishima's face.
The only person who got to see his expression was of course Yamaguchi. His best-friend was glancing at his rosy cheeks, which were growing redder by the minute. Yamaguchi was getting impatient with Tsukishima, he knew that he has had a crush on the dense king for awhile now, yet he never attempted to start anything. Though the freckled boy thought it was cute how Kei reacted whenever he finds out new things about Kageyama.
With this newfound knowledge, Tsukishima decided to do some research on flowers. Especially looking through sunflowers which he assumed was Kageyama's Favourite.
The next day came and Kageyama had seemed off, because weirdly enough he wasn't talking much. Definitely still trying his best during practise but nevertheless the mood was off with him. After some convincing from Yamaguchi, Tsukishima decided upon doing something. Conveniently that day, he had already planned to secretly give him white camellias.
Although Tsukishima was constantly bickering with Kageyama, he wasn't the most confident person when it came to giving gifts- especially when it's flowers. So he did what any middle school girl with a crush would do. Simply place them in his locker. Now, Kei didn't want to just leave flowers there without a word, so he wrote a small card reading "I hope you feel better soon.."
The team finished practise and were headed to get meat buns and with Tsukishima obviously wanting to avoid witnessing Kageyama's reaction when he sees the flowers he and kageyama decided to skip out oj getting them.
"White camellias? Who would put that here" he daintily held them, not wanting to damage it. "Well i guess i'll look into it later" Tobio tried to ignore all the questions spewing out of Hinata's mouth and quickly ate his meat bun. When he finally arrived home he took out his phone and looked up the meaning of the flowers he received.
-you're adorable- had appeared on the screen. With this Kageyama's face got warmer, surprisingly enough the simple minded setter loved the idea of someone giving him flowers, and with that meaning of course. It would only be natural for him to blush. But the biggest question he had right now was who exactly gave him those flowers.
The next few days came and Kageyama was pleasantly surprised to see that he had received more flowers.
There were variegated tulips, yellow tulips, blue violets and of course sunflowers. Which respectively had the meanings of beautiful eyes, there's sunshine in your smile, l'll always be there and lastly love and loyalty.Kageyama had loved them all, but he was awfully curious about who the person placing that was. Honestly enough, he really wanted it to be Tsukishima. Unbeknownst to the sender himself, they both fell for each other as they got to know each other. Kind of unexpected seeing how much they argue however, it was kind of nice sometimes- though they wouldn't understand either.
Due to Kageyama's interest he decided to leave practise to use the "bathroom" while he waited near the lockers where he couldn't be seen. The thing was- that particular day, Kei actually planned to confess. Not directly of course but through flowers. He briskly walked towards the setter's locker, with red chrysanthemums in hand.
Kageyama couldn't be more happy seeing Kei place the flowers gently in his locker, carefully ensuring it doesn't get damaged. Looking at them, Kageyama got an idea. He carefully went back to the gym trying his best to look unfazed with what he just witnessed.
"Ambrosia- Your love is reciprocated" It was perfect seeing how Kei basically gave him a flower that meant i love you. Just before practise was ending, Tobio went to his locker placing the flower carefully inside with a note which read "i love you too Tsukishima- sure would be nice if you said it instead"
Kei didn't think he would actually get a response from Tobio, seeing how he wouldn't know who the sender was. But when he opened Tobio's locker he saw the ambrosia along with the small note attached to it. Which Immediately got him flustered, with that a now blushing Tobio came into Kei's sight. "So you knew?" "Only recently, when you gave me the red chrysanthemums i managed to see you-"
They both burst out laughing- who knew the two would ever experience this moment.
"I love you Kei💛"
"Love you too Tobio💙"
