Hand in hand

Tsukishima walked in the dimly litted ballroom, viewing the participants who were, either huddled near the overwhelming amount of snacks; near a nicely styled fountain, (though that was the least of their concerns at the moment) that was being ogled by what looked to be a bunch of unrefined gluttons. As he clicked his tongue walking past the unruly sight. He continued glancing across the hall, and was able to notice a more civilised crowd, some were enjoying their time dancing to the music, pacing their steps along with the beat. Their steps were light and elegant. It was the first time Kei had been invited to such an event, to witness a waltz was one of his firsts.

However, even with the intricate play of people enjoying their night, the slight thought of having to interact with anyone was revolting. After all, he only came because his mother had dragged him along. As soon as he entered, and did a quick scan of the room; he had already decided that the best place for him was  a corner that had a grand piano situated there. There were a few seats that were placed behind it, thus he thought it would be a good place to hide away from the crowd.

The piano was placed there for anyone to have a go at it, seeing as how Kei had approached it- the music grew softer and slowly faded away. Unfortunately for this introvert, entertaining others wasn't his forte. Though he wasn't a genius at it- he was taught by his mother from a young age, and was at least able to perform a couple of pieces without a sweat. And since he felt gazes being laid upon him. He decided to play a quick piece in order to dissipate the crowd, the song was quick but definitely worthy of satisfying the now muttering crowd. Kei let out a sigh of relief, he only wanted to take a seat near it not have a full blown performance. After that was finished, he was greeted with applause from the crowd. Wanting to quickly get away he was about to stand up but heard a distinctly familiar voice behind him paired with soft claps.

"You played well"...who knew that the two eccentric teammates would end up meeting in such a place. As Kei turned to look who spoke; he could already tell the voice belonged to the raven haired king that wore an exceedingly unusual smile on his face. "King- what are you doing here" his response was similar to Kei's reason for coming here. I guess parents always tend to have a habit of dragging their children out with them.

As the two conversed, light music could be heard in the background- looking towards the hall there were plenty of couples; dancing together hand in hand. Truly a memorable sight. Kei had ended up getting caught in the moment, and didn't hesitate to ask if, Tobio would be glad to dance with him. Unexpectedly, the response Tsukishima was waiting for; turned out to be Kageyama frantically attempting to piece his words together, not forgetting the constant stuttering. After the moment of awkwardness had passed- Kageyama finally managed to utter out a string of words. ....." I don't know how to dance-" Usually it would be at this point, where Tsukishima would start to tease the King for not being able to do something- especially if he had known that he was coming to such a place.

Though, this time was different, a courteous smile had been plastered on Kei's face. It was comforting, he had then reached his hand out for Tobio, "just follow my lead King." Reluctantly Tobio could not falter, placing his hand in the warm grasp of Kei's hand. The pair slowly walked to the hall, ignoring the chatter coming from the crowd. It wasn't that the two of them were males, but that the whole ambience had changed as the two approached.

It was then; that the music had changed to a sophisticated, but also soothing song. Now with Kei hand on Tobio's waist, and Tobio's on Kei's shoulder the two began to slowly but gracefully move to the melodic beat. Kei was carefully guiding Tobio; on how to pace his steps and with time he slowly got the hang of it. Moments later they were shuffling their feet to the steady beat, closely embracing each other. And right before Kei had wanted to praise Tobio for being a fast learner; a sharp pain had abruptly stopped him in his tracks, looking down to see that his foot was being stepped on, by none other than his dear partner. After a few apologies Kei simply disregarded the matter and they continued dancing, though it would be unlikely that that was the last time Tobio would mess up.

Not long after, Tobio was stumbling and losing his pace, noticing this Kei started slowing his steps down. Trying his best to make it comfortable for the other party. Though this was the least of Tobio's concerns, all he could care about was the golden-brown eyes that belonged to Kei. When their eyes met, everything around them began to fade, and was completely blocked out of their vision. It was just the two of them in that moment, Tobio had felt Kei's grip on his waist pull him closer, gazing deep into his dark blue eyes. It was at this moment where he felt the most vulnerable and he was willing to sacrifice his all to the beast in front of him.

Without a second to waste, their lips had met. It was all but a short kiss, yet Tobio felt his lips grow numb and somehow craved for more. Realising the absurdity of his thoughts Kageyama backed away. Seeing this reaction Tsukishima could only softly mutter "not yet- don't pull away yet"... In spite of what just happened, Tobio had to admit that he didn't hate it. In fact he loved the fact that his hand fitted so well in Tsukishima's.

The two had stopped dancing. Instead it was replaced with an affectionate gaze that danced in their eyes, longing for embrace. It was no use staying at the hall causing tension, so they decided it would be best to continue their business at the balcony. After all it was dark out, and the stars could be clearly seen. Kei wouldn't want to miss being able to see this with Tobio, so he dragged him along. It seems like the discussion would have to wait...
