Chapter 19

Y/N'S POV

Well, it's been a little over 3 months since Bucky went under the ice and I've just felt so lost. The first person I chose to get close to is now the one person I can't talk to. I was thrown into this INSANE world that I know nothing about. Everyone in Wakanda has been very accommodating and I've grown closer to T'Challa and Okoye. Shuri has been running daily tests on me and the baby. I should feel like I belong here now but everything is still so new. They treat me with such respect and make me feel at home but I just can't believe that this is my life now. I didn't know I've had these potential powers for years and now it has to be my new normal. Steve and I had daily phone calls in the beginning but now i haven't talked to him in 2 weeks. I understand he must be super busy of course and it's hard to visit. They gave me a beautiful room in the main building and it overlooked so much of the open landscape. There was one whole wall that was just windows and when I needed privacy, I could press a button on a tablet and have them tinted so no one could look in. They gave me a nice, big bed and a huge closet. They supplied me with clothes to wear and all of them were spectacular. They designed this room so that it could fit two people so Bucky had a place to stay when he got out. Everything was so technologically efficient and clean. My pregnancy was smooth as well as they would give me supplements to help with any symptoms. Every day I would try to visit the lab where they kept Bucky but they wouldn't let me in. I spent every moment in my room, except for the two hours a day when I would be with Shuri and Okoye for tests and training. There wasn't much I could do since the pregnancy was starting to prohibit my movements, but Shuri did help me with managing my powers and help me ease into everything. She explained my powers, how I got them and the potential I could have. Is it crazy to think that if it weren't for HYDRA, I couldn't have moved to bucharest and I wouldn't have met Bucky? I shouldn't thank them but, they're the reason I'm here. I stood in front of the windows in my room and looked out over the field when I got a notification via the bracelet they gave me. It was Shuri.

"Miss Y/L/N." She greeted me.
"Hi Shuri, we already met today, what's this about?" I asked her.

"Well I figured I would ask you if you wanted to see Sergeant Barnes this evening." She smiled.

"Wait...really!" I exclaimed.

"Unless you have other plans." She joked.

"No no of course I would love to see him!" I said.

"Come to the lab at 7:30pm." She said before hanging up. I was beside myself. I looked at the clock and it was 5:30pm. I hopped in the shower and started getting ready. When I got out I rushed to my closet to pick out something to wear. It was like the nerves you get before a first date. I haven't seen him in 3 months so this was all surreal. I picked out a nice dress and slipped it on. I made sure my hair and makeup looked good and I was ready, full of nerves, but ready. The lab was in a different building close by, so at 7:15pm, I made my way out. However, when I placed my hand on the doorknob, I felt this weird rush come over my body. I looked down and saw water on the floor. I was paralyzed in shock. Are you fucking kidding me?

T'CALLA'S POV

I waited with the other people in the lab to greet Y/N. This was an exciting time because I could finally fit Sergeant Barnes for the arm they built for him. I looked at my watch and it was already 7:25pm.

"I thought she would be here early." I said to Shuri.

"She'll be here, brother." She told me while setting up the system to release Barnes from his chamber.

"Do you think you could start turning off the chamber so that way when she gets here, she could greet him?" Okoye suggested. Shuri nodded and started the process. It was relatively quick, it just depends on when he wakes up before we open the door. I stayed near the entrance in case she showed up, but there was no sign. I looked up to her windows and they were on their privacy setting.

"Any word on Y/N?" I asked the guards in her building through my bracelet.

"She has not come down yet, sir." They replied.

"Can you go check on her?" I asked them. They complied and made their way to her room.

"He's ready." Shuri announced. I gave her the go ahead and she flipped the last switch.

"He'll be conscious in 5 minutes, brother. Where is Y/N?" Shuri asked.

"I'm not sure." I said. By now it was already 7:40pm and no word from my guards yet.

"Maybe she's nervous." Shuri suggested.

"She has been waiting to see him every day since he went under." I said, making Shuri shrug.

 We all waited around the chamber as the ice dissipated and Bucky gained consciousness. We saw little signs of movement as he awoke. They got bigger and bigger until he then slowly opened his eyes. Shuri unlocked the door and undid his restraints. He looked the same, but his hair has grown. He stepped down out of the chamber and looked visibly confused, just taking in his surroundings.

"Hello Sergeant Barnes." Shuri greeted.

"Bucky." He stated, correcting her on his name.

"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"Good.....thank you." He said. I could imagine him feeling refreshed as Shuri ran tests on his mind while he was under to help get rid of bad memories and his triggering words. She still had more to do but it did help a lot. Shuri handed him a new change of clothes to which he slipped on. 

"What do you remember?" Shuri asked. 

"I remember....the good things." He said, smiling. 

"We still have many tests to run. However, your brain as been rewired to where The Winter Soldier should no longer rear his head." She smiled, proudly. 

"Thank you." He said, again. Bucky looked at me and shook my hand.  While he did that, I got a ring on my bracelet.

"Excuse me." I said, moving away and back towards the entrance.

"Yes?"

"King T'Challa, it seems as though Miss Y/N has gone into labor. She was on the floor of her room. We have moved her to the room we prepped but she is in a lot of pain." They told me. I turned to Shuri and Okoye with a panic.

"What is it?" Okoye asked. Bucky looked very confused, but noticed Y/N wasn't there. He was putting two and two together.

"Where's Y/N?" He asked.

** I know this chapter isn't that long, but I wanted to make sure chapter 20 had enough material**
