Sarai's POV

I woke up startled by the sound of loud music practically destroying my ears. Realizing that it was the alarm on my phone, I shut it off before I threw it at the nearest wall out of annoyance. Sadly, today was the first day back from Summer vacation. I was going to miss staying up late to watch Netflix or read stories on my phone. But all good things must come to an end at some point. Hearing my mother yelling from her room to get dressed, I end my little trip down memory lane and get up from my bed to take a shower. I step in and let the cool water wash away some of the fatigue that was still left over. After 10 minutes I come out and decided to simply towel dry my hair. Picking out a pair of ankle length capris, a white camisole, and some black sandals, I quickly put them on and said goodbye to my mom.

She gave me a small smile and kissed me on the cheek, to which I returned. Before leaving the apartment, I grabbed a black sweater from my drawer without my mom noticing. If she found out that I was wearing that in this heat in order to cover my arms she'd be more upset than she was already. Ever since her and my dad had gotten divorced, she's been more depressed than I have ever seen her. My brother's outbursts weren't helping either.

I ran down the stairs and made my way to school, cursing all the way under my breath. I lived a little far, so it took me a good 30 minutes to get there on foot. As soon as I walked in, the sight of teenagers filling up the halls just seemed to worsen my mood. It was bad enough I had to wake up early but now I have to hear bullshit drama from every direction. I looked around and spotted my friend Miranda at her locker. Now because I'm such a good friend, I decided that the best thing to do would be to scare her shitless. I walked up behind her and threw my hands onto her shoulders while yelling BOO in her ear. She screamed and fell onto the floor trying to sheild herself. She looked up through her brown hair and stood up over me. She wasn't that much taller than me but she made it Ber business to look menacing.

"Fuck you Sarai!" She had punched me on the arm but I couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh God the look on your face is priceless!" I tried to say more but my gut hurt so much from laughing I thought that it might split in two. She looked down at me, her blue eyes filled with anger for a brief moment but then started laughing with me.

"How was your Summer asshole?" I looked at her and gave her a sad look.

"It was great until it ended. I should be in bed instead of here in this stupid ass school. What about you clumsy?"

"It was OK. As you can see I got new clothes." She made a motion to the flower print dress and white sandals that she had put on. She really did look good in it. I pictured myself wearing that outfit but quickly forgot about it. I could never pull that off. It suited people that were skinny like her. I saw a hand wave in front of my face and snapped out of my thoughts.

"Sorry I'm just really tired. I think I fucked up my sleeping schedule so much that it can't be repaired." She giggled, but her smile soon went away when she noticed that I had a sweater on.

"Sarai why are you-"

But before she could finish her question, gasps filled the halls. The students began parting like the Red Sea and all that I could say was, "Son of a bitch." Out from the walkway that the students had created came Heather Blakely and her posse of idiots. She had made my highschool experience stressful as all hell for 2 years straight. All I can wonder is what she plans to do for junior year. She spots me and heads my way. Her blond and brown hair sways as she attempts to walk in those over sized heels of hers.

"Hey piggy I didn't think you make it today what with all the walking you had to do to get here."

I sighed, feeling a massive headache coming on. It was too damn early to deal with this.

"Oh I knew my whore senses were tingling. Hey Heather is that your flavor of the week. You may wanna be careful buddy because behind all that makeup is a shit load of disease." I looked at the guy by Heather's side. His dark brown eyes widening while looking at her face. Poor thing doesn't even know what he's gotten himself into. Heather's reaction on the other hand was pure comedy gold. I couldn't help but smirk as her eyes widened and her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.

"Fuck you fatass!" She walked off with her group and dragged the boy by her side. Everyone's eyes were on me and I couldn't help but feel self-conscious. I started tugging at my sweater and motioned for my Miranda to follow me to my locker down the hall. I could hear the whispers of the occupants of the hall and hurried before I said anything stupid.

"Holy shit Sarai that was awesome!" Her eyes filled with amazement as we finally made it to my locker.

"Bitch deserved it."

The first bell rang and I gathered my books and made my way to class with my friend. Hopefully I can survive the school day.
