Two Identities

Chapter Eight

"Hey, Green."

Lloyd paused from the punching bag he was attacking and turned to see Kai approach him.

Kai coughed, "sorry. I'll get used to it, Lloyd."

Lloyd chuckled and pulled his mask off. "Eventually."

"Anyway, I came over here with a reason. Right." Kai cleared his throat. "Can you meet me in the park after training? You know, once you're out of your gi and stuff?"

"Sure! I'll see you there." Llpyd pulled his mask back on and continued his training, Kai punched the air in victory before doing the same.

Lloyd walked into the park and got a good look around. There weren't too many people there, only around five. Kai was standing by a tree, for once the hothead looked nervous.

"Hey, Kai!" Lloyd approached him, Kai looked up and smiled when he saw Lloyd.

"Hey."

"Why'd you want to meet me here?"

Kai took a breath. He could do this. He pulled Lloyd into a hug, Lloyd happily returned it.

"Lloyd, what would you say if I told you that there's someone out there who really loves you. They love you more than anything."

"I'd be surprised. The only person I can think of who's like that would be my mom, probably."

Kai broke the hug and put his hands on Lloyd's shoulders. "Well there's someone else. And you're looking at him."

Lloyd blushed when he realized what Kai was saying. "You mean that?"

"Of course. And to think I was being obvious-"

Lloyd laughed, hugging Kai around the neck. "I love you too, hothead."

Kai took the opportunity and kissed him. Lloyd was surprised at first but returned it. Of course, someone had to ruin it.

(Note, I don't agree with a thing about to be said. Everybody in LGBTQ+ is valid and amazing, I love all of you just the way you are. If people can't see that, if they hate you because of your sexuality, their an idiot and need to get some mental glasses)

"Hey! Aren't you the red and green ninja?" A man approached them, causing both ninja to quickly pull away.

Right, their identity was revealed when Garmadon carried Lloyd home but he was still in his gi. Lloyd would have to get used to that, used to people knowing who he was.

"Y-yeah, do you need anything?" He responded.

"I do, and that's for you to break up. It's wrong."

Lloyd looked up at Kai and felt his heart twist. Day one of knowing how Kai felt and someone was ruining it.

"That's a crime. It shouldn't exist, freaks." The man continued. He kept going on, but Lloyd didn't hear him.

Shut up, shut up, shut up! The man wouldn't stop talking.

"Mind your own business." Kai punched the man in the face. He staggered backwards and put a hand over his eye.

"Why you little-"

"Hey, take the hint and back off."

Lloyd looked behind him to see Nya, Cole, Jay, and Zane. They all looked angry, Nya looked ready to punch the man again.

"Why would you-"

"I said back off!" Nya pushed him back. "Must I repeat myself?"

Kai put an arm around Lloyd and pulled him close as Nya lectured the man. Lloyd noticed the few people standing around start to look in their direction, he leaned into Kai to try and avoid it.

The man managed to push Nya to the ground. She was angry.

"Hey, don't you touch my sister!" Kai yelled.

"Then why don't you-"

"Why don't you beat it?" Someone from the crowd called. "And leave the lovebirds alone?"

"Yeah!" Someone else chimed in. "Let them be happy together, jerk!"

Everybody in the crowd was calling things like that, and eventually the man ran off. Nya couldn't help but put a finger out and drench him in water as he ran, just for the fun of it.

The crowd left, Lloyd hearing whispers related to the word greenflame.

"You alright, sis?" Kai asked.

"Never better." She grinned. "What about you?"

"Lloyd?"

Lloyd looked up at Kai and hugged him. "I'm fine."

"We'll go now, you two continue your date and have fun!" Nya called, putting her arms out to push Zane, Cole, and Jay back. As the man was yelling Cole had pulled Jay into a tight hug, making sure he was alright.

"Did you have something planned?" Lloyd asked.

"Yeah, actually. A new ice cream place opened up nearby, we could check it out." Kai put his hand out and Lloyd took it, the two walking to the place.

"Not so bad." Kai commented, taking a bite of his cotton candy ice cream.

Lloyd grinned, swallowing some mint chocolate chip. "It's ice cream, how could it be bad?"

"Fair."

Lloyd laughed and kept eating.

"Lloyd, I'm sorry, about earlier. I should've chosen a more private place-"

"No, don't apologize." Lloyd interrupted. "I loved it, it startled me but it was," he took a breath in, "it was okay."

"How? That jerk hurt you, of course it's not okay. I should've hit him with fire while I had the chance."

"It's fine, really! It's just one person, everybody else was supportive." Lloyd reassured him. He twirled his spoon around his ice cream. "Um, what does this make us?"

"I mean, I'd love to be your boyfriend, if you can handle someone as hot as me."

Lloyd laughed again, rolling his eyes playfully at Kai. "I can handle it."

Kai put his hand across the table and took Lloyd's hand, squeezing it. "Well then, Lloyd Garmadon, do you want to be my boyfriend?"

Lloyd nodded. "Of course, you hothead!"

Kai chuckled and flicked some ice cream at Lloyd. Lloyd laughed once again, giving Kai a look. Kai simply shrugged, grinning. 

The two finished their ice cream and left, Kai keeping an arm around Lloyd to hold him tight. They went back to Lloyd's house, and there they found Garmadon sitting on the couch with Koko.

"Hey, honey! How was the date?" She asked.

Lloyd coughed. "How'd- how'd you know it was a date?"

"I got a call from Nya. That man didn't hurt you, did he?" She asked, standing up to hug Lloyd.

"He didn't, he just surprised me."

"Good, that's good." She smiled, turning to Kai. "Did you boys have fun?"

"Of course, Mrs. Garmadon. We had a blast." Kai winked at Lloyd.

"You can call me Koko, Kai, I've said this." Koko said with a smile. Garmadon stood up and put a hand on Lloyd's shoulder.

"I was thinking we could have some father-son time. Y'know, to make up for what I've missed."

"That sounds fun." Lloyd followed his father to the backyard, leaving Kai with Koko.

Koko saw a look on his face and nudged him. "Don't worry, Kai, it's all going to be alright. I promise." She smiled.

"Yeah. It will."
