PoV: Fleetaway

It took days of Sonic playing with all the sensory toys we got him before he started to uncurl his fingers. He was starting to get the hang of holding things and leaning more on his legs than his arms. Today was a real test. I was sitting in front of Sonic with a small plate of food. I placed a very dull fork into his hand.

"Ee-ay," he looked at me.

"Sonic," his ear flickered, "This is how you're supposed to eat," I stuck my fork into a piece of the pear and ate it to show him, "You try it."

"Mm?" He held up the fork.

"That's your fork. Try using it," I guided his hand down for the fork was pointing at the slice of pear on his plate.

"Mm..." he was a little frustrated with it at first, but he eventually got it, "Ah~!"

"Yeah, that's your fork," I scratched behind his ear. He was smiling and seemed pretty proud of himself.

"Fuck!"

"It's fork, Sonic," did I just teach him a curse word? Why does that make me feel guilty?

"Fuck?" He didn't get what he was saying wrong.

I grabbed a paper and wrote it down, "Fork. F-O-R-K. Fooork."

"Foo?" He was getting better at saying it at least.

"Yeah, that's close enough," I helped him eat some more of the pears with his fork, eventually he was doing it on his own.

Maybe I'll show him the alphabet.

"Ee-aay!" Sonic called me with the paper in his hand. He had grabbed something on his own!

"How did you pick that up huh? Good boy," Wait a second... good boy? WHEN THE HELL DID I START CALLING HIM THAT?!

"Ee-aay! Aa!" He pushed the paper into my face.

"What do you want?" I put the paper down on the table.

"Foo," he pointed to work fork that I wrote down earlier. He pointed to the empty spot under it, "Ee-aay."

"You want me to write my name?" I sighed and wrote it down, "There. Fleetaway."

"Ee-aay," he smiled. That's really all he wanted...

"You've been saying it wrong. Fleetaway. But that's expected. You still figuring out how to pronounce words."

"Fee-aay?" He tilted his head, "Fee-aay!"

"That's better than before at least. You know you own is Sonic right?" I wrote it down on the back of the page.

"Onic?" He seemed a bit confused.

"That's you," I poked him.

"Onic," he nuzzled against me, "Fee-aay."

"Yeah, that's us right now," he was just about ready. He could hardly talk, but his pronunciation was getting better everyday. Once I got him to walk, it was goodbye.

Looks like there's only a few things left to teach you...

After that, it's billionaire city for me.
