"Hey," Heath says as Izzy climbs into his car. "What did Oswald want?" He asks.
"Oh, you know, begging me not to go on this date, telling me I normally dress like a homeless person.. just Ozzy things." Izzy says, smiling at him. Heath chuckles. "So we're we going?" Izzy asks.
"Still a secret." Izzy finds herself smirking as she fastens her seatbelt and waving at Ozzy as Heath drives away (of course Ozzy returns the gesture with a sarcastic smile before aggressively shutting the front door).
So, a ten-minute drive later, Izzy notices that Heath is driving them towards the mall. He pulls into the car park, and turns off the engine.
"Here we are!" He says.
"The mall?"
"Better. The arcade." Izzy had always loved the arcade, the flashing lights, the carpets with the funky designs. Her and Ozzy used to come here a lot when they were younger - their parents would go shopping and they would play in the arcade. Those are some of Izzy's favourite memories, to be honest. And Izzy also hadn't come here in years, so this was a really fun idea. Izzy forms a grin on her face and Heath just stares at her looking so happy.
"I frickin' love the arcade." She says, making Heath softly laugh. He gets out and Izzy too, and they start walking through the halls and past all the shops which were closing for the night. The arcade was really the only reason the mall stayed open past 7pm, that and the restaurants. Izzy spots the ever-so-familiar sign reading 'The Arcade'. She sighs, but a happy sigh. Izzy stops walking for a moment, trying to figure out how he knew to go to the perfect first date location.
"How do you know me so well already?" She jokes, breaking the silence. Heath chuckles before they wander towards the luminous sign.
They enter the colourful, dimly-lit room filled with arcade games and 2p droppers. Heath goes to the counter and gets two pots of tokens, and hands one to Izzy.
"Where should we go first?"
The pair spend ages playing all the arcade games. Izzy found out that Heath's secret talent was winning in a game of air hockey against a bunch of 9-year-olds...
"This is amazing, Heath. It really is the perfect date spot." He smiles at her. "And your air hockey skills are immaculate."
"I know, right?" She laughs. "And this isn't the best bit..."
"What do you me-" She sees him pull out a ziplock bag from his pocket. How the FRICK are the pockets on boys jeans so damn big?! "Is that... turkey jerky?" Her eyes light up, and Heath slowly nods.
"You want some?" She nods too, trying to contain her excitement.
"But... you can have that bag. I have my own. Always." He slightly chuckles and dives in for a piece of jerky while Izzy pulls out her turkey jerky from her bag. They both munch on the food, and Izzy starts to walk towards the grabber. She takes one of her tokens and puts it in the slot.
"Iz, you know those are rigged, right?" Heath says, raising an eyebrow.
"I have a gift."
"Oh- um," But before Heath can say any more, Izzy is focussed on the grabber. Her face is on of concentration and she narrows her eyes, positioning the claw perfectly above a prize. She slams her hand down on the button, and watches as the claw grabs the toy and drops it down the hole. Izzy grabs it out of the retrieval hatch. The prize is a small, pastel-green dragon with brown eyes and orange spikes. Izzy smiles and Heath's jaw drops in awe.
