Heath and Izzy are in Heath's room, laughing and snacking on turkey jerky. Izzy checks her phone for the time: 21:14. Quarter past 9.
"Hey, it's pretty late so I should get going." Izzy says.
"Okay. Or... you could stay over if you want?" He looks at her, raising his eyebrows.
"You sure? Your dad won't mind?"
"Probably not. He's chill." She nods and Heath gets up to ask his dad if Izzy can stay over. "DAD! CAN IZZY STAY OVER?!" He shouts. Izzy silently flinches and chuckles softly.
"IF HER PARENTS ARE COOL WITH IT, SURE!" Nick shouts back. Their communication skills are amazing. If Izzy shouted like that to her parents, you know she would definitely get grounded.
"Did you hear that?" Heath asks, looking back at Izzy.
"It was hard not to." Heath jokingly rolls his eyes and sits back down on his bed. "I'll text my mum to see if she's cool with it." She says. Heath mutters something like 'okay' while Izzy texts her mum.
Me: hey mum, can I stay round Heath's tonight? xx
Mother goose❤️: sure, remember to use protection honey xxx
Me: uhh... mum I'm 15..
Mother goose❤️: your brother is 17. I'm 33.
Me: so?
Mother goose❤️: do the math, hon.
Me: oh
Me: OH
Mother goose❤️: have fun Izz! Xxx
She looks up from her phone, eyes wide and jaw practically hanging open. Heath looks at her, furrowing his brows.
"You good?"
"Read the texts." She hands him her phone, and he spends a few seconds reading before he matches her expression.
"oH."
"Yeah..." After a few silent seconds, she breaks from her trance and looks up at Heath, breaking him from his too. He clears his throat.
"So, you want dinner? I have two Pot Noodles."
"That sounds excelente." He smiles at her (assuming what she said was good. Heath doesn't speak a word of Spanish) before gently grabbing her hand and leading them into the kitchen. "Hey Nick," Izzy says to Heath's dad, as he sits on the dining table in the kitchen.
"Hi, Izzy. You okay?"
"I'm great, thanks. Me and Heath are making some Pot Noodles."
"What are you doing, Dad?" Heath asks. Nick seems to be staring at his laptop screen rather aggressively, squinting his eyes as to not let in too much light. After all, the kitchen was pretty dark - the only light source was the laptop and a lamp that was on in the hall.
"I'm actually signing up for an online dating website." Nick says while typing in the last details of his profile.
"Really? I thought you were into Emily."
"What? No! Embo's my work colleague."
"And that's why you call her Embo?" Nick death glares Heath, and Izzy cant help but laugh. "I'm kidding. I mean, it's about time you get back into the dating field. Well done for being brave, Dad."
"Thanks Heath." Heath nods at his dad before grabbing two Pot Noodles out of the overhead cupboards and puts the kettle on.
Later that night, both Heath and Izzy change into comfy clothes - Heath lends Izzy a T-shirt and some jogging bottoms (along with a hoodie in case she gets cold) as Izzy didn't have any clothes apart from the ones she was wearing. And you can't exactly sleep in jeans and a T-shirt. Okay, maybe you could sleep in the shirt she was wearing, but it was a Friday and she had been to school.. you don't exactly want to wear the same clothes for 24 hours. All night, they watch scary movies and snack on popcorn, turkey jerky and their Pot Noodles.
At around 3am, Heath looks over at Izzy and sees her eyes closed. She's asleep. She slightly smiles to himself before turning off the TV and lying down next to her. As he lies there, staring at his beautiful girlfriend, he only thinks one thing.
'How did I get so lucky?'
A/N: thought this was cute lmao, I feel like online dating is a very Nick thing to do I can't lie. Life update: I've done nothing all day. :D
