Rebecca's is holding her youngest brother as she's racing down the hallway with her two other younger brothers. Rebecca and her half-brother Jacob are both the adopted children of a man named Derik. They have two younger brothers named Tim and Barry who are Derik's biological children. While Rebecca may be her adoptive brother's aunt they consider one another siblings.

They are heading up the stairs next to the giant chandelier above the entrance of the house. The stairs are about 5 feet away from the chandelier and 3 feet lower than it. Rebecca is trying to prove that she can land on the chandelier without breaking anything.

"You don't have to do it, Becca," Tim begs

The 8-year-old had been the one to ask if Rebecca could do the jump. 'I was only curious to know if she could do it and now if something happens it'll be all my fault for asking the question.' Tim thinks guiltily.

"If you don't do it you owe me $20" Jacob taunts.

"Quit lying Jacob! I only owe you $20 if I break something and there's no way, I'm backing out now, sorry Tim." Rebecca chirps "Here watch Barry," she says handing Tim his younger brother

They're all standing on the top of the stairs on the biggest step and Rebecca tells them to step back. She runs forward to create momentum and she flips herself onto the chandelier.

The chandelier shakes with Rebecca on it "See I told you I wouldn't break anything." She grins.

The chandelier begins to shake more violently "Um I think it's time to get off now." Rebecca says a little quickly.

She leaps off the chandelier and on to the middle of the stairs just before the chandelier crashes down shattering itself and the tiles beneath it.

"You owe me 20 bucks," Jacob states flatly.

"What on Earth is going on in here?" their butler Alain inquires.

"It was Becca's fault," Jacob yells as he points at Rebecca.

"Way to put the blame on me," Rebecca states with an annoyed expression

"I'm going to have call you father about this right away, the three of you better stay here," Alain emphasizes and hurries out of the room.

The kids ignoring Alain quickly search for a place to hide before their dad gets home. They end up hiding in Jacob's closet. Rebecca is hiding on the top shelf with Barry behind some board games. Jacob's hiding behind some clothes on his hangers and Tim hides in a box.

Derik has to leave the meeting early because Alain worriedly calls him about the children breaking a 10-foot chandelier and the entrance of the house as well as some tiles. How they managed that was beyond his knowledge the only thing he knows is that chandelier was worth at least 11 million dollars and his kids still broke it.

By the time Derik gets home all of his kids gone. 'Of course, they're gone' Derik thinks grumbling after looking for his kids

"Alain do you know where the kids are?" Derik asks

"They're not at the staircase?" Alain questions raising his eyebrow.

"No Alain they're not at the staircase" Derik exasperates

"Then, unfortunately, I don't know where they are, I told the kids to stay there, away from all the glass and broken tiles, but they don't seem to understand what stay here means"

"Kids where are you!" Derik calls

"Should we answer him?" Tim asks

"No idiot we'll get caught otherwise," Jacob responds

"Jacob what did Derik say about calling people idiots." Rebecca questions in annoyance.

"I wasn't calling him an idiot I was only describing him. Now that I think about it I was describing all of you, you're all idiots!" Jacob growls

"NO, NO, I NO IDWOT YOU IDWOT!" Barry fumes

"Guys dad's coming upstairs we have to be quiet," Tim says silently

"What did you say, Tim?" Rebecca inquires trying to hear him over all the shouting.

"He says to shut your moronic faces!" Jacob barks

Derik enters Jacob's room and shoves open his closet door. "What are you all doing in here?" Derik questions angrily "And Jacob what did I tell you about name calling!"

"We were hiding from you duh." Rebecca comments

"Don't get mad at Becca!" Tim says tearfully.

"Did Becca break the chandelier?" Derik inquires

"It was my fault I asked her if she could get onto the chandelier from the top of the stairs."

"And she did it."

"It was my fault though" Tim insists "It was my fault she and Jacob had that bet."

"So, they were both involved," Derik presses on

"I wasn't involved I just want my 20 bucks."

"So now you're lying. If you weren't involved you wouldn't have wanted 20 dollars," Derik retorts.

"Wiar," Barry says happily clapping his hands.

"Rebecca get down from there, and bring your brother with you," Derik blandly says as he looks up at her and Barry.

"Okay Derik, come on little B let's get down," Rebecca says jumping down from the shelf with Barry in her arms.

"Rebecca you're going to write a letter on what you did wrong and how that affects everyone else don't forget to include the part that states why you shouldn't hide from your punishments."

"But Derik you know I'm not good at writing in proper grammar." Rebecca interrupts.

"I know Rebecca that's one of the reasons on why you're going to write the letter neatly and not use autocorrect, now will you let me finish what I was saying."

"Yea finish what you were saying" Rebecca mumbles

"Jacob you have to get Tim ready for bed start getting him ready at 7:30 and no dessert for a month for the both of you."

"Aw but Derik Tim takes so long to get ready for bed." Jacob says, "Also how come I get no dessert for a month all I wanted was my $20."

"You were name calling that's why you get no dessert for a month just like your sister you have to learn to be nicer to your siblings your punishment will help you learn to get along with Tim. Now I'm going to my meeting since you're all okay. There will be workers coming to fix the damage Becca caused, don't disturb them and don't go near the front door it's not safe. If you want to go in the yard use the back door and when I get back from my meeting I want your apology letter written Becca, and Jacob get Tim ready for bed in about 3 and a half hours," Derik instructs.

Okay so, I'm not sure if any if you noticed that the characters are kind of similar to others you may know. If you can figure out who it is or if you have an idea please comment on who you think it is, I'd love to see your thoughts. If you want a hint there is an observation by evergreen9568 it's a good hint on who the characters of chapter 2 are kind of based of. Sorry if I'm rambling.
