I stood up, but with hesitation
I hoped my angsty state didn't expose my agitation
I'd done this before, everything was as per routine
No one would suspect a boy who was only nineteen
I took in a breath and walked with renewed strength
After all, at the tunnel's end awaited immense wealth
I left the plane and prepared for extensive probing
I didn't look tense, but my heart kept constantly throbbing
"just smile, don't act guile, no one knows what you're carrying "
That's what I told myself but still I kept worrying
Check after check, no one knew that my story was fake
And then there was one, the checkpoint that would make or break
"Hello sir, may I see you're passport? "
She viewed it and twitched, and I almost leaned over for support
Time went slow and voices grew low as she flipped and studied
With every passing second, her expression further muddied
The sound of a stamp quickly drowned my paranoia
"Sorry for that, enjoy you're stay in California !"
I released a huff and went over to grab my stuff
For a moment I'd thought that it was all just a bluff
It was over, and I decided that that trip would be my last
Consignments in my bags would be a thing of the past
I walked fast , knowing there'd be a waiting car
Then a hand grabbed my shoulder, " Excuse me sir…."
