Derek
"They grow up so fast Genevieve."
"They really do Trisha." I watched as my mom and Trisha wipe fake tears from there eyes while looking at me in my wedding suit. My dad and Trisha's mate Jordan are laughing from the back along with my brothers.
"Mom, Trisha don't yall have to help get Rose ready." I groaned making everyone laugh except me.
"I suppose we could save our teasing till after the wedding." My mother says to Trisha. I watch as they laugh before kissing there mates and going to Rose's dressing room.
"Dude, that was hilarious!" My bestfriend Winston expressed as he pated my back.
"Shut up." I whine "Winnie The Pooh." I say making a mocking face at him, he hates when I say that. Only my sister is allowed to call him that, seeing as she's his mate. And she's called him that since they met when she was eight. She claimed that's what his name reminded her of.
"Your not allowed to call me that." He whines back. The others are just laughing at us.
We've been this way since 6th grade when we were partnered up together for a social studies project, seeing as it was both our least favorite subject.
"Alright boys that's enough." Winston's father Quincy states knowing that we were about to start a bickering frenzy as usual. We just roll our eyes.
"Daddy! Daddy! Look what I drew!" Caden's three year old son Lucan came running up to him with a colored picture of a lion.
Caden picked him up and looked at the picture with so much pride and love that it was his pup that drew it.
"It's perfect bub." Lucan smiled widely at his dad showing all of his pearly whites. A lion was Lucan's all time favorite animal. Don't ask me why, but it was. And it was adorable.
"Thanks Daddy!" He grabbed Caden's neck and hugs it as tight as his little hands can squeeze.
I loved my nephew with my whole heart, same for his twin sister Julia who was getting ready with Caden's mate and wife, Lucile.
"Wow, so you don't want to show your favorite uncle?" I ask teasingly to Lucan as he laughs at me and shoves the picture into my face.
"Hey! I'm your favorite uncle not him." Grant whines emphasizing the word him as an insult. I roll my eyes and Lucan just laughs harder.
"Okay you two, it's time for Derek to get married and I'm sure he'd appreciate not having a black eye on his wedding day." My father states making me look at the clock and realise we have to go to the altar now.

Standing at the altar with my palms sweating and Check pacing in my mind is driving me crazy. Especially since Check isn't happy.
He's always been happy with Rose so I don't know why he suddenly changed his mind on my wedding day.
But nonetheless I will go through with this wedding seeing as I will regret it if I don't in the future. I know I love Rose but I can't help but think, what about my mate? What if she's waiting for me and when she finds me I will already be mated and in love with another woman. The opportunity to rule her pack be snatched out of her hands.
A pang if guilt washes over me as I think of her, if I ever meet her. Hopefully I won't, hopefully she will have moved on from me and settled down.
But that's not how life works. I have a feeling in the back of my gut that one day, I will meet her. Apart of me think's I will love her more than Rose. But that can't be true I cannot do that to Rose. I cannot dwell on the future.
Suddenly music starts playing and the church doors open and Rose steps out. (Up Top.) Her black hair curled and going down her back as she struts towards me with a smile on her face.
Her dad died last year. He had alzheimers and had set a fire to the house while her mother was out at the shops. So after that her mom killed herself being in immanence pain after losing her mate.
I couldn't help but think, didn't she care about her mate? Was she not thinking of him like I was mine?
It didn't help Check wasn't even talking to me anymore. Giving me no clue as to why he was so moody.
(I'm skipping to the kiss bc I honestly don't care about this wedding.)
"... you may kiss the bride." I leaned in and my lips enclosed on Rose's. Check growled at me but I stopped it from coming out of my mouth as I pulled away quickly, giving her a mere peck.
Rose looked at me concerned but I looked away into the crowd who were all cheering.
Each cheer felt like a punch to the stomach and I didn't know why. Probaly Check's doing, nonetheless I wrapped my hand around Rose's waist and we walked down the isle, back to the dressing rooms.

"Husband, what's wrong?" Rose asks as soon as we get in the changing room trying to sound nonchalant but failing miserably.
"What about your mate, my mate, what happens when we find them?" I ask Rose truthfully. She sits me down on a chair, sitting in the one next to it and grabs my hand.
"Derek, last month..." She takes a deep breath, "last month I found my mate..." what? "But I rejected him, I expect you do the same with yours." Hold up. Bitch said what? I know I'm not supposed to say that about my wife but, can you blame me?
"You what?!" Rejecting your mate in our pack leads to death within a week. You suffer termindus pain the whole time, like your burning alive and can't eat or sleep. I was not going to put my mate through that and I can't believe Rose did.
Rose is now going to experience the same pain every month for a 2 weeks on the day her mate died. Some don't survive the pain and die too.
Vincent...
Vincent was a pack member that died last month to rejection of a rouge, or that's what his family told us. His family were glaring at me and Rose his whole funeral. I just thought they were mad because we couldn't find a cure for him... I guess not.
Nobody has been rejected in this pack since the 2nd year of my father's rain as Alpha. My dad became alpha when he was 18, he's 60 now.
"What is wrong with you Rose?!"
