(Layla's p.o.v)

I was losing my mind. This was the mental breakdown i felt coming for weeks, ever since I'd heard Andy's mother say a part of Juliet's soul was inside of me. I had managed to conjure not only an image but also a voice and i'd gone crazy.

"By the look on your face, i'll take it you aren't too thrilled to see me."

The space around us formed into my room, and she took a seat on the edge of my bed while i plastered myself against the door.

"You're not real. This is me torturing myself and going crazy."

She laughed, a sound that ran along my bones like the most pretty song. "Trust me, i'm very much so real. Well, real in the sense that i'm a part of you and i'm able to talk to you. I've been trying for so long to get through to you but it didn't seem like you ever heard me. But i suppose since you finally put on my necklace that's given me some doorway to talk to you."

Sweat dripped down my neck as i shook my head with a force that made my muscles ache. "No no no, you aren't real!" I slid down the door and hugged my knees to my chest. "This isn't possible."

The bed rustled as Juliet moved and took a few steps in my direction. At first, she didn't say anything, just knelt in front of me. I pulled away from my knees to look up at her from under my hair. The pity i saw in her eyes made me want to hurl. I hated that look, it was the same one Sam had given me so many times when my parents separated, and the look Scout had given me when i was leaving the bar.

"I know it's not my place to tell you what to do. This is your body, but i'm stuck in it too and i think i might have a way out." She paused and took my hands in hers. "I think... Marla knows more than she lets on. She's a very ancient, powerful witch and she had to have known my soul somehow got inside of you. If you go to her, she might help-"

"I'm not going back there." I pulled away and crossed the room. There was no way i could go back to that mansion, no way i could look her in the eyes and try to explain what i knew was just a mental break. "What i need to do is go see a therapist or someone who can help me. Clearly if i'm willing to make you up like this i need help."

A growl sounded where Juliet was and when i turned, my mouth went dry. Her eyes were  glowing just like Andy's. "I've had to sit here for your whole life and watch it go by. I watched what use to be my family, my home welcome you. I had to sit here and watch you break Andy's heart and then fuck another man while completely ignoring the fact that Andy loved you-"

"He didn't love me!" I felt my anger rising to match hers. "He used me to fill some fucked up void in himself and i shouldn't have let him because clearly i'm so replaceable. If he loved me he wouldn't have let me leave."

She took a few breaths, reigning in her temper and shaking her head with a sigh. "Layla, i can't speak to who he is now. I know he isn't the same since i died. But-" She once again took my hands in hers. "I know the way he looked at you is the same way he use to look at me. Even if he has a hard time saying it, i know he has feelings for you." There was a pain in her eyes, a sad smile painted on her lips. "He hurt you and i get it if you want to hate him. But, for me, i'd love to talk to him or see him again and if Marla can pull the fraction of my soul from you, maybe i will get to say goodbye to him."

A question that'd been nagging at me bubbled to the surface. "If you're real, what happened to you?"

But her form became fuzzy, like a fog was rolling back in. "That, my dear, is a story for another time if you wish to hear it."
