Truth or Dare

When I woke up, I became aware of two things. One, Andy wasn't in bed with me. Second, my head felt like it was being cleaved in two. I barely made it to the bathroom before puking my guts out. That's right, i'd drank on an almost empty stomach. Slowly, the events of the night came back clearer and clearer, and I reached with shaking hands up to my neck. Two punctures were clear as day as I ran to look in the mirror. Through the mirror I noticed a note on the nightstand beside the bed. I trudged over and read the words scrawled in Andy's handwriting.

Take these, you'll need them. I have business to attend to the next two days, i'll be home by the time the party rolls around. Marla will walk you through what's expected of you over the next two days and I expect you'll follow everything she tells you or there will be consequences. See you soon kitten.

I breathed a sigh of relief that i wouldn't have to see the man i'd professed my love to the night before. How could I have for the briefest of moments thought I loved him? And why? He always did things with the motive to make me want him, to want to continue staying here to be his pet! No, I couldn't love him. That word was going to be locked away for a long, long time especially when it came to him. I swallowed down the asprin with the water he'd left and headed into my room to shower and dress. Sweats and a tank top would suffice if i was just staying here with Marla for the day. Curiosity knawed at my stomach as i finished covering the bite mark on my neck and descended the stairs. The light flowed into the dining room and for once the back doors were wide open letting in the summer air. Marla had laid out a sort of breakfast, a variety of muffins, fruit and oatmeal. I sat, groaning at how hungry i was. Just as i reached for a muffin a hand came down and slapped it away.

"Owe!" I cried, rubbing the back of my hand as Marla took a seat across from me.

"Rule number one, you do not eat or touch any food before the head of the table does." She grabbed her own bit of food, signaling for me to once she'd finished. "Andrew wanted me to prepare you for the party and meeting his family."

I felt my mouth go dry at the remembrance that i wouldn't just be attending a little girl's birthday party, but also meeting Andy's family. Vampires that could be hundreds of years old for all i knew, and my mind wandered to what exactly his family thought of his pets. Was i the first one to meet his family? Did they even know about the girls like me? Hell, how was he even going to introduce me-

A muffin hit me square in the face.

"Rule number two, no zoning out!" She shook her head with a sigh. "Good god help us, you're going to need a lot of help before this party."

"Marla why exactly are we practicing this if it's only a little girl's party?"

"Because-" She pointed her half eaten muffin at me "you my dear are having breakfast with the Biersack's before the party. Or did he not mention that to you in the midst of you're confession fueled activities last night?"

My cheeks burned bright red at her comment. "How do you know about that?"

"Andrew never explained what i am to you did he?"

I shook my head, feeling the spoonful of oatmeal i ate turn to lead in my stomach.

"I, my dear, am a witch. I have wards around this house to keep enemies out, and i have bugs throughout this house to keep his security tight. It's not something anyone beside he, the guards, and now you, know. Do not go blabbing it to anyone or i'll have you're head." Her face turned soft as i pushed my breakfast away, suddenly not hungry. She noted my reaction and smiled sadly at me. "Now, in the matter of what I heard, I don't mean to blunt but he won't love you back. Whether or not you still believe what you said last night be very aware of that. I've served Andrew and his family for a long, long time and you aren't the first to try to stretch beyond the threshold of his heart. You won't be the last."
