I woke with a jolt as thunder boomed loudly outside my window. The sun wasn't up, I had only been asleep a few hours as my clock dimly showed the time of 3:15 in the morning. Rain pelted the window with such ferocity I was surprised we hadn't heard about an oncoming storm. California rarely got these sorts of storms, and truthfully, because of the rarity it terrified me. I clutched the blankets against my chest, deciding what do to. I couldn't wake up Andy because I was afraid he would call me a child and send me away. So I slid on one of my black silk robes and slippers and carefully opened my door to peer out. Every so often the house was lit up by the flashes of lightening but there was no other sound other than the storm outside. Maybe some tea would calm my nerves.

I treaded as lightly as I could down the stairs and into the kitchen, glad that Marla left the tea pot out knowing I liked tea. I started boiling some water and fished a pretty cup out of the cupboard. One perk I suppose about Andy being a vampire was the fact that he had such old, antique things that were beautiful to look at. Even his cups which were white with red and gold accents were something amazing to me. No one made anything like this anymore.

I jumped as another crash of thunder echoed through the room, turning to look out the kitchen window into the large garden. The flowers were raging in the wind, barely holding onto their branches with the force of their shaking. Something caught my eye and I peered a bit closer out the window. It almost looked like a shadow of someone standing near the pool, but they weren't looking in my direction until my cup made the smallest noise against the glass I was pressed against.

Two glowing red eyes turned in my direction and I could see the fang filled grin that turned on me.

I screamed.

The cup in my hand crashed onto the floor as my feet attempted to move backwards quickly. My back hit against a solid form and I turned too quickly, causing my feet to slip and myself to land close to the glass I dropped. Vaguely I registered the glass that now dug into my hand, but I kicked and screamed in hopes Andy might hear me. That was, until the light came on.

"Hey hey hey what's going on?!"

Andy stood there in his red boxers, hair ruffled from sleep and looking at me with what I can only describe as terror. I'm sure I was a sight to behold, screaming and kicking at the air like a maniac.

"T-t-there was someone outside!"

His head snapped in the direction of the pool and his fangs shot out of his mouth. He clenched his fists and headed towards the back door, not uttering another word as he disappeared into the night. The tea kettle began screeching after the few minutes he was gone and reappeared in the doorway with a grim look on his face. He locked the back door and moved the tea kettle from the heat, shaking his head with a sigh. I still sat with glass in my hand but from the look on his face that was the least of my concern.

"What exactly did you see?" He asked, not taking his eyes off of the kettle.

"I saw... I don't know. All I saw was a shadow of a person and I guess they heard me inside and turned around. But their eyes were red, like, bloodthirsty red. That's all I saw. Sir." I bit my lip, suddenly feeling a lot worse from cuts on my right hand. Andy turned to say something, but before he could I saw his eyes drop to my bloody hand. His pupils double in size and I saw his fangs poking out of his lips even though he tried to keep his lips pressed shut.
