chapter seven.
When Uriah walked out of the front door, she was on a serious mission. School was approaching and she needed her money back from her father to pay for necessary items for herself. She let a little over a month go by without checking up on him, but she decided enough was enough. She wanted her damn money back, and she'd go through hell and high water to get it.
She made her way across town to his pawn shop, the only possible place for her to see him. Surprisingly she found a pretty decent parking space not far from the store front. She figured she'd have to park around the block or something since there was so many people out. She stepped out of her car and into the blazing August sun and straightened out her clothes before approaching the shop.
She opened and door and was immediately hit with the cold temperature of the air-conditioning on her skin and it felt amazing to her as it cooled her off. She walked in and didn't see her father anywhere. She approached a petite woman who was obviously and employee to see if he was present and available.
"Excuse me miss?" Uriah spoke politely getting the short, Caucasian, middle aged woman's attention. Her bright blue eyes met with Uriah's as she acknowledged her.
"Hi sweetie, do you need any help?" The woman responded with a smile.
"Yes, um, is the owner Antonio Brooks here? I need to speak with him."
"Yes honey, he's in his office. Wait here I'll get him for you." She finished her sentence with another smile as she walked away towards the back of the store. Uriah watched intently her as she opened a door labeled, EMPLOYEES ONLY. She went in and closed the door, then just moments later came right out. She walked back up to Uriah saying, "He'll be right out, honey."
"Alright. Thank you."
The lady nodded and walked away and left Uriah to thank alone impatiently waiting for the asshole that she was biologically connected to. About a minute later she saw him walk out of the room. He pretty much looked the same as last time, except more facial hair. Other than that, he had the same stupid dark brown skin complexion, the same stupid brown eyes, the same stupid--well, everything else. In Uriah' so eyes he was just stupid. He just looked stupid as he walked up to her with his stupid ass walk. The same stupid fourty-three year old man that thought he was the shit, but was really just fuller it.
"How many I help you?" He asked Uriah as if he was speaking to some customer rather than his daughter. She was oozing with irritation as he towered over her. She didn't want him within even fifty feet of her, but then her mind drifted right back to his debt.
She chuckled bitterly and shook her head in disgust. Her attitude was coming right out. "So you just gonna talk to me like I'm some random bitch off the street and not your daughter, huh?"
"Uriah."
"Antonio," she said, her hand on her hip and her eye brows raised. "You still owe me money from months ago, and I know that you know that you need to pay that shit back."
"What the hell is wrong with you? I'm your damn father. You can't even--"
"Wait one fucking minute. You ain't never been a father to me. Ever. Now, I bailed your dumb ass out of jail because of the kindness of my heart because nobody else would. I was trying to pay you respect as my father, but by your scheming ass actions I can see that was a huge mistake. I'm going back to school soon, and I need my damn money.
"Look Uriah, I ain't got the fucking money."
"You don't? Could've fooled me considering all the money you've gotta be pulling in from this place."
