chapter four.

"Good job, man. Keep up the good work," Jaden praised me and gave me a pat on the back as I was doing some repairs on a Toyota Camry in his uncle's Auto-Body Shop. I got all my certifications as a mechanic and now, he was taking me under his wing as I got used to working a full shift on the job because this was my first line of work after getting my license as a mechanic.

"Thanks man, I'm tryin."

After a few more hours of labor, I was finished for the day and met Jaden and his uncle, Malcolm out front to close up shop.

"Good job today, son. I can see you improving more and more every day." Malcolm said, holding his hand out for me to shake.

"Thank you a lot sir. I appreciate the opportunity." I shook his hand with appreciation.

"Come on little nigga. My sister's cooking dinner and my mom won't be home tonight so we can smoke a little somethin"

I sucked my teeth. "Man, you need to go to your real home. With Monica and your son," I chuckled.

"Nah man she still trippin'. I mean damn, the bitch I fucked ain't even mean nothing to me. She needs to chill."

I shook my head. This man stay on games...

"No. You need to chill. You can't be doing that shit to the one girl that's always been there for you. It's fucked up."

"Shut up nigga. What would you know? You ain't got nobody," he said sounding salty as hell.

"Yet."

We pulled up to the house, and Jaden put his car in park once he was in the driveway.

"Yeah man, once you start making the real bread, you can get you a whip instead of me carting your big ass everywhere," he spoke jokingly though I know he was serious. He has been looking out for me a lot to help me get back on my feet, and we've gotten pretty tight.

"I know man. As soon as I got enough money I'm getting something nice. I'm almost there."

We got out the car and walked to the front door. He unlocked it and we walked in, the aroma of baked chicken in the air. As I walked further into the house I saw that the place was spotless and clean and the dining room table was all set for everyone to eat. I looked back towards the kitchen to see Uriah and the nigga that had to be her boyfriend pressed all up on her while she had a big smile on her face. The moved apart from each other once they heard Jaden come in. I watched as he and her boyfriend shook hands and shared a brotherly hug.

"Aye, what's up Kendrick," Jaden greeted the guy.

"Nothing man, just watching your sister move around in the kitchen. Her food be good as fuck." he laughed.

"I know man I be tearing that shit up. But let me introduce you to my homie, Don. Don this is Kendrick, my big head sister's boyfriend, Kendrick this is Don, my nigga that I been training down at the shop."

"Aye, man," He spoke and gave me a head nod.

"What's up," I replied dryly. I didn't respect this nigga for abusing a woman.

"And I know you know my sister, Uriah."

"Yeah. What's up Uriah?," I greeted giving her a friendly smile.

"Hi," she mumbled, mean mugging the shit out of me.

Jaden, Kendrick, and I walked back into the dining room and took a seat while Uriah put the finishing touches on the food and fixed our plates.
