chapter ten.

Jennifer opened her front door allowing for Kendrick to enter into her home.

"Hey Kendrick," she spoke softly as she tried to pull him into a a kiss, but he lightly shoved her back. He didn't come over for that.

"Nah, I'm not here for all that shit. I need to know what's going on," he spat harshly making his way into his kitchen as if he lived there. He was the type of guy to take control and make his prescence known. He reached into her rerigerator and opened up a can of beer as Jennifer sat down at the kitchen table.

"Sit down," she said.

Kendrick sat down at the table across from her. He looked into her eyes prepared to hear whatever was going to pass through her lips.

"So I was at Uriah's house and some guy named Don came by..." Jennifer trailed.

"And?" Kendrick snapped. He didn't have all night for her to beat around the bush. He wanted to know excatly what the hell she heard between Uriah and Donovan.

"So he came to the door asking for her or whatever. Uriah said she wanted to talk to him alone so I let him in. He went up to her room and she thanked him for taking her to the hospital or some shit.

Then, he was trying to tell her some shit like you don't love her since you beat her and killed her baby and she was trying to take up for you. Long story short, she came out of no where and started saying he was right about everything and then she asked if he knew where she could get a gun. I think her weak ass might try to shoot you or something," Jennifer confessed.

Sure, Jen was Uriah's "bestfriend", but she was always secretly jealous of her. Uriah never exactly came out and told Jen the severity of her and Kendricks situation, but she always knew. She never brought it up or really tried to help her because she was secretly happy she was getting her ass beat. That's the only thing Uriah didn't have on her. Yeah, Jen wasn't on her way to success and in school or have a supporting family like Uriah, but atleast she wasn't being abused by her boyfriend of three years. Besides, in Jennifer's mind, Kendrick was hers from the start.

They all had went to highschool together. During the summer before Senior year had started, Kendrick and Jennifer devoped a sexual relationship that absolutely no one knew about. Jen had a boyfriend at the time and Kendrick just didn't want to be seen with her period because everyone knew she was such a promiscuous girl. During the course of their short-term fling, Jen had develped feelings for Kendrick, but he didn't want her like that. In September when senior year started, Kendrick took a liking to Uriah and they became official by December.

The sadness and jealousy that Jen had within her was disturbing. She wanted Kendrick all to herself and hated to see Uriah with him. Two and a half later when Kendrick started beating on Uriah, Jen couldn't help by smile inwardly at the bruises on Uriah's face. She'd sit by her and hug her like the fake friend that she is.

"Shoot me?" Kendrick was in total disbelief.

Jen shrugged.

"That fuckin' bitch..."

"She is a bitch," Jennifer chimed in. "A bitch that you need to stop worrying about. Kendrick, baby, we both know what it is. You don't love her anymore. We love eachother. So fuck her and the motherfucker she's with. We can be together."

Jennifer stood up and slowly made her way to Kendrick on the other side of the table. She cupped her hands around his face and looked into his eyes. She leaned down and kissed his lips.

"Jennifer, I don't love you."

She abruptly pulled away from him with anger written all over her face. "Why are you lying to yourself! You loved me ever since we started fucking in highschool and I loved you too!" she shouted."If you don't love me, then why don't you hit me but hit her? Huh? Why don't you call me a bitch and a slut and a whore like you do her since you love her so damn much!"

"I hit on her because she say and do dumb shit that get her ass in trouble. You on the other hand behave. You do whatever the fuck I say and that's how it should go," He gripped a chunk of her hair as she winced in pain. "Now if you talk to me in that tone again, you gonna end up just like her." he spoke coldly while releasing her. Jennifer's face was bright red as tears fell from her eyes.

A sinister smile adorned his face. "Thanks for the information, baby. Now get on your knees and suck my dick, bitch."

And of course, Jennifer did as she was commanded to do...

Don sat across from Keira, his longtime ex-girlfriend, in the dimly lit resaturant trying to digest the fact that she was actually there, right then in front of him. Besides when she showed up at his doorstep not long ago he hadn't seen her in a little over year and he didn't think that she would be back. She had moved miles away, all the way across the Country to California while she was pregnant with his child. The day before she left to move in with her sister she came to his home crying and confessed that she was pregnant. He was shocked to say that least and told her they'd talk about it later. He needed time to think. He never would've thought she'd be leaving with his kid the next day, resulting in him losing all contact with her.

"Why are you here?" he questioned breaking the silence between him.

She sighed sadly. "Don..."

"Seriously. Why the fuck are you here after so long? Why did you leave in the first place."

"Donnie, things were complicated and you know--"

"Donovan is my name first of all, and second, I don't give a shit about how complicated things were. You had no right to tell me you were pregnant with my baby and up and leave the next fucking day."

Keira wiped the tears from her eyes. "Donovan I had no choice! I was practically homeless since my mom kicked me out after finding out. I had no choice but to go live with my sister."

Don looked at her like she was crazy because to him, her story wasn't adding up.

"You do realize that I would let you stay with me right? And your story ain't adding up because why the hell wouldn't you tell me you got kicked out and were moving to California? I found that shit out weeks later by your cousin!"

"I don't now Donnie because I was stupid and I was scared! I was scared because the look on your face when I told you let me know that you didn't wanna be involved."

"What look Keira? Huh?"

"You looked angry! You barely said anything to me. You shook your head and said we'd talk later, then you slammed the door in my face. That was enough to confirm my decision."

Don sighed heavily and put his head in his hands trying to process her words. "You were mistaken," he said.

"I see that."

"Did you have a boy or a girl?"

"Girl."

"What did you name her?"

Keira painfully closed her eyes shut trying to control her emotions. "I didn't. I put her up for adoption. I let the couple name her."

She opened her eyes to see Donnell's green eyes darkened and tears filled them. The sight broke her heart into a milllion pieces. She watched as he pulled his wallet out from his pocket and lay a twenty dollar bill down to cover the bill.

Without saying a word, he slid out the booth and walked away, leaving her speechless just like he had done him before.
