"Are you guys dating or something ?" Arjun asked suddenly interrupting Ani from whatever he was going to say to me .
Is there any pause button to this guy? ... Seriously Arjun ? .. I mean why, god ? ...why? ..
Both of us looked at him in shock and I said " No, we are not ... Dating" in small voice .
"I mean, you are on nickname basis and all , fighting and saying sorry and all mmm? "
Arjun said while looking at the different direction .
" No Arjun , how is that has to do with anything? ... We weren't fighting... Fighting is what you and I do ..."
Then suddenly Ani tilted his head towards me and was looking at me with wide eyes through glasses ... What has gotten to him today ?
But then I continued " and the nickname ... Everybody use those now "
" Yeah , I agree everyone calls you Anu here , but I don't remember calling him Ani or whatever " ...this guy , seriously ... can't he be less snappy? ... Will it kill him?
"We do ... Me and our gang .. we all call him Ani ...right Ani? I asked looking at Anirudh now ...
But I think he wasn't listening ...bcoz he was eyeing Arjun without blinking ... Ok weird ...
"Ananya , I think you should call Tanvi and tell her you are here ... she must be worried... That too, if you are not so busy explaining Arjun sir whatever that is you are explaining ..."
"Yeah , I will... Wait a minute , Sir? ... Arjun sir ? ... Why do you call him Arjun sir ? "
"Ananya, can you please call Tanvi now ?" Ani said with little raised voice .... What is wrong with him ? Why is he so angry ? And what's with the Ananya? Can't he call me Anu ? ... I am getting angry now ...
So I took his phone and called Tanu and told her , ofcourse with alot of sorry in it .
After I hung up phone , I looked up and Arjun started again " Wait before you start giving me lecture ... I didn't tell him to call me sir ... He always does that ...so I didn't correct ... besides who doesn't like to be senior these days ,right ?" He completed smirking and taking both of his hands behind his head ... seriously this guy ...
I laughed and said " yeah ofcourse you do " ...
Suddenly I got shocked by the voice of someone tapping hand on the table ... It was Ani now looking very angry and like out of the book syllabus ... What?
" You guys continue , I am going , lunch time is over either way , I need to hurry " said Ani and started to walk out of canteen.
"Hey , wait ... I am coming too ... Bye Arjun " and I also started following him trying hard to catch up with him as he was taking long long steps .
" Ani , wait ... What happened ? "
"What happened ? ... First you forgot we were meeting at ADDA then you left your phone in locker and then you came here and sat with him talking and laughing at god knows what ... I mean seriously ? And you ask me what happened ? ... I thought you don't get along with him ... What happened to the phrase 'everyone is nice here except for the Arjun ' ? Huh?" He said in one go taking deep breath after that .
Ok he is very very angry ... And with fine reason too... What to do ?
" Ani , please , I said I am sorry , I forgot yarr ... Please I promise this won't happen again ... I will keep my phone with me always from now on for you to make me remember things I forget like a reminder clock ok? ... And on the top of that I won't forget such things on the first place ... But please don't get angry ... I don't work well when people are angry at me ... please ?"
I said with all the innocence .
" Okay , fine , who can be mad at that cute face of yours anyway ? ... I am not mad ... But just next time don't do this ...or this reminder clock of yours will have to drag you himself " he said with a beautiful smile ...
I laughed too and said " ok promise "
" Now go or we'll get late , you said you have department meeting today right ? " Ani said
" You are my reminder clock ... But yeah I remember that ... And will go ... Okay , bye ... Later? "
"Later." He replied.
And I went to the department smiling and remembering our little convo just now ... Oh wait , did I hear it right ? ... Was I hearing things or he actually called me cute ? ..
Shocked.
