Emily's POV
Izzy showed me my room. It was the one next to hers and across from Alec's. Jake's room was down the hall.

"Ive placed some of your stuff in your room. But if you ever need anything, you know where to find me" she said winking. I chuckled.

"Of course, Iz. And thankyou" I gave her a quick hug and she went away.

I walked into my room. It was spacious and had a big bed placed at one corner. I changed into something more comfortable.
After I changed, I rested on my bed for some time trying to get some sleep, which I failed at. I walked out in the hallway, the institute was quiet at this hour. It must've been pretty late.
I walked up to the roof. I sat there, overlooking the city. It was such a peaceful sight to the mundanes, but for us we knew what was behind all that glamour. Just bloodshed.
Lost in my thoughts, I lost track of time and didn't notice when someone entered behind me.

"Thought I might find you here" His husky, familiar, soothing voice pulled me out of my trance.

"How so, Lightwood?" I said turning around a little to see him leaning against the door frame. I gestured towards the empty space beside me, and he came closer and sat there with me.

"Well, I heard your door close and your footsteps. And I also know that you enjoy solitude and quiet, you always dragged me to the roof with you when you couldn't sleep" he said. He remembered this. I never thought he would.

"That was a whole other world ago. Can you believe it? Everythings changed. We grew up and i somehow turned into the daughter of a psychotic killer. I felt hopeless at so many times you know? But the only thought that kept me going was that one day I'd be back home, here" I said as I rested my head on his shoulder.

"You will always have me, Em, No matter what. See, we're on the same roof after all. You still managed to drag me out of my bed with you" he said and I chuckled.

"Some things never change right!?" I replied.
I looked in his eyes. They were deeper than all the oceans combined. Alec was so beautiful, but he never realized it. Unlike Jace, who always flaunted himself and was proud of his looks, Alec never thought that he was even worth noticing with someone else in the room. But if Jace was gold to the others, then Alec was silver. And not many people knew that silver is a rarer metal than gold. Alec, was my shining gem in every crowd.
He looked at my lips and shifted his gaze to my eyes. I noticed that I was subconsciously doing that too. He brushed my cheek with his thumb and I leaned into his touch. Our lips almost brushing when the door flew open causing a crashing sound revealing:
Jace.
Of course, the idiot has to ruin everything.
He looked at Alec and then at me, taking in what was happening here, his eyes widened.

"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" Jace said. I looked at Alec and he spoke.

"No noo, we were just... you know what? forget it. What is it?" He replied. Okay sweetie, I don't think I'll let you go that easily.

"Well then, Alec we need you. We're going on a mission. Something is blocking Clary's memories. The warlock she told us about might have some answers" Jace said. Alec shot him a doubtful look.

"I don't approve of this mission. We're all gonna risk our lives for just a bunch of memories which probably are no good to us" Alec spat.

"The Circle probably kidnapped her mother because she knew where the mortal cup is, and i think she knows too. But her memory is wiped" Jace replied.

"Fine, we'll meet you downstairs" Alec said.

"We? Absolutely NOT! The Morgensterns are not coming. I don't trust them, Alec. They could be spies" Jace said. My eyes widened at his comment.

"I've known the Lightwoods way before you have and they know me and Jake. I may be a Morgenstern unfortunately, but I'm also a Trueblood. Besides, if you're gonna go get yourselves killed you might as well want all the help you can get to save your sorry ass" I spat. Alec looked at me with astonishment while Jace glared at me.

Alec's POV
"Listen, lady. You can't just barge into our home barking orders alright? Alec and Izzy may have known the old you before but times have changed, so have we. So it's better that you keep your mou-"

"That's enough, Jace. We don't choose our parents and you can't just simply hate her and her brother because they're Valentine's children. I've known her all my life and she is the most caring shadowhunter I've met. She stood by me when I faced hardtimes and now it's my turn to do so. Either they go with us or I'm staying here with them. Its your call" I cut him off. Jace stood there taking in what I've said. I stood up taking Em's hand and started to walk inside when Jace stopped me.

"Alright. Let's get ready then" he said. I gave him a quick smile and then Em and I went inside.

So this is a small part today guys. But I've got this whole thing planned so I couldn't write it all in one chapter, it would've been too long. Aaanndd I'm a terrible writer I'm sorry. I just wanted to write a book for the loml Alec hehe.
