Chapter Five: City of Bones

*Entering City of Bones*

Izzy's POV

"Yeah this place isn't creepy at all" said Simon. He's right though. The name of place does it justice.

"Don't tell me you're afraid" I say to Simon.

"Are you kidding? I was born afraid; which sounded a lot better in my head" he replied.

"Let's check it out" Alec says and Jace, Em, Jake and I follow him.

"You know that if anything happens to her that's on us right?" Alec says looking at Jace.

"What's your problem with her anyway? Your family always welcomed in strays. The only thing is there's just one more of us" Jace replied.

"Three, actually" I corrected Jace.

"The Morgensterns will never be one of us. You're stupid enough to trust them but I'm not" Jace says before walking back to Clary and Simon. I look at Em and Jake and give them a sympathic smile.

"I'm sorry for Jace's behavior, he'll warm up to you both in no time"

"No it's fine. He does have a point for not trusting us. We are the children of the person who threatens our entire world. I don't blame Jace. The only person who's to blame is Valentine" Em replied to me. She always understands the situation. It must be hard for her and Jake, to get blamed for all the monstrosity their father caused.

Clary's POV
Jace walked up to us and told me to get ready to go inside. Simon was coming with me when Jace stopped him.

"Not you mundane" Jace told Simon but he obviously wasn't gonna back down.

"Surprise surprise! No mundanes allowed just like in the training room. Right? Wrong! I've seen every horror movie to know that the funny bestfriend who gets left behind, dead man!" Simon says.

"I was lying about the training room but not now" Jace tried explaining to him

"Problem is I don't trust you now"

"The rune energy in the City of Bones will kill any mundane who dares to enter. So, please..." Alec popped up gesturing for Simon to walk inside. That seemed to convince him because he knows Alec's not the one to joke around about this stuff.

"The brothers creep me out, Jake and I will mind the mundane" Izzy says.

"Your sacrifice is noted guys" Jace replied to her.

"Talk about sacrifice, I'm missing a financial analysis class" Simon says turning to me.

"I can't be here, anymore. So I'm gonna mind the perimeter" Alec said.

"Hey wait I'm coming too" Em followed him.

"I don't wanna leave you here Simon" I tell him.

"Hey go be a badass shadowhunter alright? I'll be right here, guarding the entrance to hell" he says with a sarcastic tone.

I gave him a quick hug and Jace and I walked inside.

Emily's POV
"Hey wait I'm coming too!" I shouted at Alec who stopped for me. Then we both walked away.

"Why did you come with me?" He asked me.

"Well, I for one, am not a third wheeler. And two, I don't think I can bear the constant torture of hearing a rambling mundane" I replied. He smiled at me.

"You seem to get awfully along with that mundane actually" He said to me with a hint of suspicion. He thinks I like the mundane. This is gonna be fun.
