Emily's POV
Alec and I went downstairs to get ready for the mission. I changed into my shadowhunter gear and walked into the training room to see Alec talking to Jace about the risks of involving a mundane into the shadow world. Jake and Izzy were talking to a nerdy mundane boy in the corner with Clary standing next to him.

"You know what? I'm not afraid of the runes. So bring on the runes! What exactly are runes?" The mundane said all in one breath and I chuckled.

They turned around to see me. So I answered his question.

"They're the marks that give us our angelic power" I said as I ran my stele over my angelic rune.

"So Hot!" the mundane said. Alec cleared his throat and glared at him. I giggled at them.

"The runes I mean! Not that you aren't.. I'm sorry.. I'm Lewis. Simon Lewis. Clary's best friend. Am I still talking?" the poor boy was confused.

"It's fine, I'm Emily but you can call me Em. I see you met my brother" I said shaking his hand. Alec was frowning at us for some reason.

"Yeah, he's a sarcastic guy, your brother" he replied and I laughed.

"No buddy, I'm not sarcastic. I literally meant that you're stupid enough to get yourself involved in this hell loop we shadowhunters call our lives" Jake replied.

Jake's got black hair unlike my dark brown waist-long locks, he's tall and muscular with broad shoulders, which was a turn on for every girl he ever met. Except the fact that demon slaying makes him look "sexy and tough" as he says, my brother never liked the shadowhunter life. He always wanted to live a normal life like normal people, but we never could. I hope one day he finds that. He's suffered a lot already.

"Atleast we have interesting lives unlike mundanes, they're plain boring" Izzy said to Jake.

"No actually some drama happens in our lives too" Simon chimed in.

"I bet the most of it is you trying not to express your true feelings to your 'best friend'" I said.

"Looks like someone is speaking from experience, but that's not the case with me and Clary alright? She doesn't see me that way" Simon replied.

"Don't even get me started on Em's lifelong lov-" Jake started but I elbowed him in the ribs before he could continue any further.

"Her love for what?" Alec came up from behind me and making me jump a little. He smiled at my reaction.

"Her very obvious love for-"
"My love for food, obviously. Speaking of which, I'm starving actually" I cut off Jake again. I knew that bastard was gonna rat me out to them.

"I don't have time for this. I need to find Dot before Valentine gets to her" Clary said.

"Since you have all the answers, where do you suggest we start looking?" Alec said with a hint of anger in his voice.

"Well we could start with the loft and she had this thrift shop-" Clary started as she was fondling with her necklace but got cut off going into some kinda state of trance. We all looked at her astoundingly and then she got normal and spoke again.

"Weirdly I think I know where Dot is"

"Great, I'll drive. Unless you have a shadowmobile or something" Simon said

"No sweetie we don't" Izzy replied.

All of us crammed into Simon's van but there wasn't enough space so I was half standing inside the van and yelling at everyone to move their asses. At the same time, Mr. Lewis decided to attain neck-breaking speed and I stumbled backwards landing in Alec's lap.

"Woahh, easy there Em, you could've hurt yourself" Alec said catching me. My breathing hitched.

"These mundanes are gonna be the death of me. I'm sorry" I replied to Alec and started to get up. He held me down again by my waist.

"Do you wanna fall down and get a concussion? Besides it's fine. Just relax and don't move too much" Alec said.

I thanked him with a smile. My eyes met with Izzy's and she gave me a sly smirk while Jake gave me a thumbs up. I didn't understand at first why they did what they did, and then I focused on what Alec just said to me. Shit.
My cheeks flashed red and I looked at Alec, who was looking out the window. Eventually we reached Pandemonium where Clary had apparently seen Dot in her vision. She got another vision and started running around everywhere.

"Hey! Waittt!" I shouted but she kept running. We eventually catched up to her and Jace asked her what was wrong.

"Circle members, the same ones who took my mom, they took Dot too!" She started crying. Jace consoled her while the rest of us were thinking what to do now.

"This place is not safe, we need to go back to the institute" Alec spoke up.

"There is another way to get her memories back" Jace said.

"What is it?" Clary asked him.

"The Silent Brothers. They're shadowhunters with superior powers. They could help you" Jace explained.

"No. Nope. Not at all" Izzy said.

"Are you kidding me? We've broken atleast 18 Clave rules and now you wanna go to the City of Bones? There's no way, I won't allow it" Alec said.

"They're creepy as fuck. If I was you I'd rather not have my memories than have them hacking my brain" Jake said.

"Plus the process can also kill you, so there's that" Alec explained.

"It's not our choice to make" Jace replied to them.

"She doesn't know the risks" I said to Jace.

"Does anybody else know any other way to get my memories back?" Clary asked us. We stayed quiet.

"Then it's settled, we're going"
