Perhaps two weeks had passed since myself and Cassie called the truce between us I sill don't like her but I really do have to focus on school for a bit, I'm falling behind in history one of my worst subjects so Miss. Mcivor is making me do my final project with her star student whoever that is.
I make my way to the class nit wanting to be late to a class I'm already failing; everything is so much weirder in the US and to be honest I really struggled to adjust to their ways. I told mum and dad that I should just stay in the UK because its my last year of school and its so aquward moving to a different country in your last year of secondary school plus college in the USA is SO EXPENSIVE! Honestly I don't know how anyone pays for it and I want to study at Cambridge University anyway so it really would've been better for me to stay but my parents were adamant, maybe they just didn't want to lose their free babysitter.
People think I'm hard on my parents but you try living with two scientists 24/7, they don't cook, clean or do the laundry they seem to think it magically gets washed, dried and folded by itself and oh christ I sound like a mother. But it's true I am basically a mother to 3 kids and two useless adults unless it's about espolatian microdendrotoxins they're pretty much useless; at least they have jobs and make good money but I have to take care of that too, its just so much I have to do all the time.
Miss. Mcivor jolts me out of my thoughts at the end of class. "Ellerie I know you've been struggling with history so I've got you a straight A partner my star student Cassie!" My head jolts up as I see Cassie Blake standing there looking like she wanted the ground to swallow her up and honestly I wanted that too. Just because we had called a truce didn't mean we liked each other.
I approached her after class," hey, I'm sure I can figure this stuff out, you don't have to help." I said slightly nervously. "no no it's a project, that means we have to do it together, honestly I'm just glad I didn't get a slacker they're the worst to do projects with."I smile and nod anxiously thinking about Friday when we arranged to meet at my house as the libary was closed and Mack and Daisy had already arranged to have friends over on Friday so with 5 kids under 10 to feed and entertain plus a project to do with a slightly judgmental Christian girl, this weekend was going to suck.
As the week went by way too quickly and soon I was waiting for Cass to show up so we could drive to my house together despite us being the same age(18), Cassie couldn't drive so I volunteered to give her a lift to my house. I was kind of hoping she wouldn't show up but she arrived right on time. "hey is this your car?" she asked in her adorable American accent. "yeah, she's my baby and if you scratch her I will kill you!" I half-joked patting my 1962 chevy impala on the boot as she laughed and jumped in the passanger seat. I grinned and started the engine.
We arrived at my house and most of the kids were already here running around wildly while mum stood there looking like she'd made the worst decision ever, she always did this invited people over and then realised straight away she couldn't deal with it, leaving me to deal with all of the mess. She looked positively overjoyed to see me! "hi El, your dad's just texted he needs help at the lab I'll be back soon." she falsely promised and ran out like her arse was on fire I rolled my eyes knowing full well she wouldn't be back until midnight or after it. Cassie looked stricken and very out of place with her neat as a pin uniform and perfect golden hair, recently cut to a Bob that framed her face beautifully. "sorry about that" I motioned aquwardly, "they're really smart, but they're not great with everyday stuff, you can go up to my room it's the first door on your right upstairs, I'll just make sure they've got enough food and I'll get Mrs. Enshaw to look after them she has kids the same age so it should be fine. " I explained rather non essentially, I fixed the kids food and begged Mrs. Enshaw to look after them all so she roped me Into looking after her 3 for a month. Which didn't seem particularly fair but I was desperate so I agreed.
When I went back up to my room I found Cassie already working on the project, we worked in complete science for two hours until we finally took a break. "hey are your parents always like that?" she asked munching on biscuits "yeah pretty much, they're geniuses so it's impossible to argue with them, but it's like they forget about anything that isn't work,." I sighed tired of only talking about with a buffering Jo. "I'm sorry, that sucks, everyone thinks that I'm going to marry the pastors son but he's a complete dirt ag and I hate him." she ranted I nodded understanding completely. "To defying expectations!" I said raising my glass, she laughed and clinked her glass against mine, "to defying expectations!"Sup fam it's your girl how you liking it?
