13. Kai

"How are you feeling?" Caden asked as he walked into the living room and took a sit beside me on the long sofa

"I should be asking you that" I replied after learning about what had happen to him and Tony on their trip to London a few days ago

"Honestly?" He asked and I nodded making him sigh, "Like shit. I mean I was so excited to be a mother you know and that was taken from me in an instant and I didn't think it'd hurt this much"

"I know saying sorry won't change anything, but I really am sorry for what you and Tony are going through. I can't say I understand what it feels like to be lied and betrayed that way but I also know what it means to love someone you have never met," I replied laying a comforting hand on his making him smile, "Don't give up hope that you'll have a family of your own even if it takes a little longer than you expect,"

"Thank you Kai," he replied before leaning over and giving me a warm hug, "we never got to talk after your appointment so I didn't get to ask about how Zeke reacted when and if you told him about you being pregnant."

"He actually took the news pretty well. In someway I hoped he would have reacted this way but still there was a small piece thinking that he would have rejected me upon learning the news." I replied and he nodded giving me a small smile

"I'm sure you've seen how he is when his orders are ignored, and when his family are messed with. He's a ruthless son of a bitch but he would have never turned his back on you no matter what. I can see it in the way his eyes light up whenever you're in the same room or when you're mentioned in a conversation," he said making me blink, "You've changed him in a way that I had always wished for. He's a more understanding person now that you're here and safe. He would go to the ends of the earth just to make sure that nothing happens to you and now that you're expecting, there is no denying that he will be doting on you and the baby."

"And he's changed me too, even if it's only been a few weeks that I arrived here. He's shown me what it means to be cared for and that what I thought was love while I was with Rick was nothing but infatuation because he had been the first guy to show interest in me," I said and he hummed in understanding. To be honest, I never thought that I'd ever feel something so strong as I do now for Zeke and its terrifying. He's shown me so much in such a small amount of time that I can already feel myself falling for him, and hard. He protected me from the man that I've feared for so long and he stepped up to the plate to be my unborn child's father without being asked.

"Give him a chance to make you the happiest you've never been and I can promise you that he will never hurt you and he will always be there for you and your baby no matter what."

And I believed that, in a way. I knew that whether our relationship worked or not, that Zeke would always be there for us, watching over us and always being there whenever we need him.

"I know, but I'm afraid to let my guard down I don't want to get hurt even if I know he wouldn't do that," I said looking down at my lap

"And that's okay, Kai. I'm sure my brother understands that" Caden said making me look up at him to see him giving me a warm smile that had me returning one of my own, "Now, tell me, have you already started thinking of names?"

"Not yet, I want to be sure what the sex will be until I start thinking of them" I said and he nodded and before he could say anything else, Zeke and Tony joined us in the living room

"Hey, what are you two talking about?" Tony asked as he took a sit next to Caden whole Zeke sat on the love seat

"About the baby" Caden replied and Zeke's eyes widened and Tony hummed

"I bet the little thing is giving you a hard time even if it's early, huh?" Tony questioned and I nodded

"Wait, hold on, you already know about Kai being pregnant?" Zeke asked his brother and Tony and they both nodded

"Yeah, Caden told me about Kai expecting when he came to our room after he joined him and Doctor Kylie in the infirmary" Tony replied

"Oh"

"Were you worried how we'd react when you told us about Kai expecting?" Tony asked Zeke who scratched the back of his neck making his right hand man roll his eyes, "dude just because we hit a bump in the road doesn't mean you have to walk on egg shells around us"

"We appreciate that you were worried about our feelings, big brother, but you don't have to be careful around us" Caden added and Zeke nodded

"Now, have you guys thought about names yet?" Tony quizzed which had Zeke and I exchange glances before shaking our heads no and they hummed, "wait, do you know what you're having yet?"

"No, but doctor Kylie said that I'm do for a check up next week which also means we'll be able to know whether it's a boy or girl" I replied and they nodded

"Still you should have names picked" Caden stated making me smile

"Would you like to help us pick out a name then?" I asked making both Tony and Caden beam while Zeke smiled at the bright looks on their faces. After all the pain they've gone through in the last 48 hours I think having been asked such a simple question made a big difference.

"Are you sure?" Caden asked

"He wouldn't have asked if he wasn't sure, Cade" Zeke deadpanned making Caden flip him off making me chuckle

"Of course I'm sure" I replied and they nodded

"Alright then, what are we waiting for, we gotta pick a name for my first nephew" he exclaimed before jumping to his feet and running out of the room leaving the three of us behind to stare after his retreating form. Zeke and Tony shook their heads while I smiled at his enthusiasm.

Maybe, just maybe, having Rick in my life in the beginning was not such a bad thing because in the end, I gained a wonderful man as my husband (even if it was arranged) and two incredible brothers that I could have ever asked for that will love my unborn child as their own.
