Here are some terms that I used in case you're not familiar:
Vital signs- indicate the status of the body's (life-sustaining) functions. There are four primary vital signs: heart rate, respiration, temperature, and blood pressure.
Intubation- the process of inserting a tube, through the mouth and then into the airway. This is done so that a patient can be placed on a ventilator to assist with breathing.
Oxygen saturation- measures the fraction of oxygen-filled hemoglobin. The normal range is 95-100%.

Gab's POV
Today was my first day as a Family Medicine resident and I have dreamt of this moment for so long. This dream took years to become a reality, spending half my life studying- trying to get to where I am now.
A year ago, I walked along the hallways of the hospital with a short coat and short sleeves. Now, I'll be walking with my long white coat and a stethoscope around my neck. I will be called a resident instead of a PGI.
Last year, I had no income. This year, I can finally give back to my parents.
What a wonderful glow-up.
I adjusted my white coat and stared at the mirror. I looked wide-eyed and abuzz. I blinked, trying to make myself relax. I was a bundle of nerves.
I took a deep breath. Fighting! You can do this. You are a strong woman, Gab. You can do anything as long as you focus. You were able to get through med school. You will be able to get through your first day as a resident too.
Just then my phone vibrated. It was a message from Paulo.
I smiled, my anxiety slowly melting away. He always knew how to make me feel better, knowing I'd be so tense today, on my first day of work. I don't know how he does it but he just knows what I'm thinking. It's like he's so attuned to me.
I was smiling the entire time as I made my way to the Outpatient department of the hospital. I saw so many familiar faces.
"Hi, doc! Good to see you here."
"Doc! Congrats!"
"Uyyy, si doc Gab. Residente na ohh. Congrats, doc!"
I smiled at the people who greeted me. These were the nurses, doctors, and auxiliaries who worked with me while I was still a PGI.
It was so good to be back in the hospital. As much as I love the free time that I had before I was finally employed, I do miss working. I was so used to being busy and always on the go that I feel so restless when I'm not doing anything.
Sometimes it's so hard to believe that I'm already a licensed doctor, that I'm already a resident. It seemed like yesterday when I was still a first-year medical student, trying to study so hard to pass her classes. And now, waaaaaaaaah! I'm already entering the real world of medicine.
