He pointed to a button on the side, and Nathan pressed it. The controller lit up. "Uhm.. What about that one?" Nathan said, pointing to the one in the middle of the list. Gabriel moved the controller and the screen hand moved to the game Nathan pointed to.
Gabriel presses it and it started a loading screen. The screen said, "Load game 1." Then below it, "Load game 2." Below that said, "Start new game." Gabriel pressed "Start new game." And there was a loading screen, where you could choose things about the world.
Gabriel pressed 2 player, and original difficulty. The game loaded into a world and asked who was playing. Gabriel chose an account with the nickname "VMP3000." Then there was another option for player 2.
"Now press new account and you can choose your nickname, then we can start playing." Gabriel said. He helped Nathan figure out how to use the controller and Nathan chose the nickname "AshFallen2192."
They loaded in the game and Gabriel taught Nathan his to play the game. He was being so patient with him, and Nathan found it weird, because nobody had ever treated him like this before.
Once he kind of got the hang of how to use the controls, they played the game for a while. Gabriel's mom called down the stairs, saying she was off for work and lunch was on the table.
A few seconds later the door closed, so the two boys walked up the stairs and into the kitchen, where there was a bowl of fruit salad in the middle of the table. "Are you allowed to eat in the basement?" Nathan asked.
"Yeah, my mom will be fine with it." Gabriel said, opening one of the cupboards. "Can you grab some forks over there?" He asked, pointing to a counter on the other side of the kitchen. "Yeah." Nathan said, and walked over.
He opened the drawer and grabbed two forks, and when he looked up there was a photo. It looked like a smaller Gabriel, with a man holding him, and his mother next to them, clearly pregnant.
"Who is the guy in this photo?" Nathan asked, looking over his shoulder. Gabriel walked over and looked at the one Nathan was referring to. "Oh.. That's my biological father.
He left when I was 3, then came back and got my mom pregnant, then left again.." He said, annoyed. "Why is his picture still up?" Nathan asked. Gabriel turned around. "My mom still has hope.
That he'll come back and we'll be one big happy family. That he can get help for his problems. I know it's never going to happen anyways. He never dropped his habits for us. He came to my mother to have sex, that was it.
They didn't expect to have kids, and my father wants nothing to do with us. Mom loves us, and refused to get an abortion, so dad stuck it out with me for a few years then left. Then he came back when I was 7 and they had sex, after my brothers birth he left again.
That's why mom works so much, it's hard without him here. But I won't forgive him, even though she would in a heartbeat. She'll never learn..." He said, sadly. Nathan turned around and out his hand on Gabriel's shoulder.
Gabriel turned to look at him. "I'm sorry about your dad. Both of my parents were never really there, taking care of their human. I was always alone with some of my siblings." He said sympathetically.
"I never had siblings, mom was always at work. I never had anyone to talk to, I can relate. Now let's eat." Gabriel said, and walked to the table. He set down the bowls and Nathan came up to the table and put a fork in each bowl.
Gabriel filled the bowls about halfway, then puts some foil over the bowl and places it into the fridge. They walk down to the basement and continue playing the game for the rest of the day. Nathan was almost better then Gabriel by the end of the day.
Eventually, Gabriel fell asleep. Nathan carried him up to his room and placed him on the bed, and layed down next to him. He fell asleep almost immediately, after being tired all day, it wasn't very hard. The next morning, Nathan woke up to an alarm. Gabriel was awake, too. He got up and went to his phone and turned the alarm off. "Sorry, it wakes me up for school. Do you come with me or just stay at home?" Gabriel asked, and unplugged his phone.
"I'm supposed to close to you all the time." Nathan said. "Okay, well I'm going to shower, then when I'm done you can." Gabriel said. He walked over to his closet and grabbed some clothes, then went into the bathroom.
Nathan sat there for a while after the water from the shower started running. "Crap, I'm hungry." Nathan thought. "I don't want to ask him for blood. Wouldn't it hurt? But don't I have to now, since they don't have the things we eat? They just have blood? Just ask him Nathan! He won't care. I hope it won't hurt him." He continued to think these thoughts until the water stopped running.
Nathan got up and walked to the closet. He picked out an outfit and turned around just as Gabriel came outside of the bathroom, him dressed and his hair done.
"Hey uh....you know how humans have to give the vampire blood? I'm kind of hungry and you don't have what we eat where we are from, so can I?" He started, but Gabriel cut him off.
"Yes, go ahead. You don't have to ask you know? Just tell me your hungry and we can go somewhere private. I just have a question. Does it hurt?" "I'm not sure, I have never bit someone before so I wouldn't know. Guess we can find out." He said, and walked towards Gabriel.
"Yeah.." Gabriel said. He turned around and tilted his head so that Nathan could bite him.
Nathan put one of his hands on Gabriel's shoulder, the other on the side of his arm. He sunk his teeth into Gabriel's neck. Gabriel just of jumped, but it just felt like getting a flu shot.
He was terrified of needles, but he felt more comfortable with this, oddly enough. After a few seconds, Nathan stopped and let go of Gabriel, his teeth coming out of his skin.
He put his hand over Gabriel's neck and healed the bite. "There. Thank you. Did it hurt?" Nathan asked. Gabriel turned around and stretched his neck a bit. "It felt like s flu shot. It was fine, and your welcome." He responded.
"Okay, I'm going to go shower and wash out my mouth." Nathan said, and grabbed the clothes he picked out then walked to the bathroom. "There is mouthwash in the cabinet!" Gabriel yelled after Nathan closed the door.
The water started and Gabriel started getting his supplies for school. He put his books, laptop, art assignment and notebook in his bag.
The water turned off and Nathan came out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist again. He walked to the wardrobe and started to get dressed.
Gabriel looked over to the bed, and Nathans hoodie was still there. Well, technically it was Gabriels now. He walked over to the bed and put the hoodie on, and by then Nathan was done getting dressed.
"Let's go I guess?" Nathan asked. Gabriel got up and put his backpack on. "Yeah, just follow me, I usually walk to school." Gabriel responded. So, they headed out the door and walked the few blocks it takes to get to the school.
Here they were. The middle school that Gabriel had gone to for nearly 2 years. He hated it, and he hated how everyone treated him. He hoped Nathan would change people's perspective on him, but even if he didn't, he would be graduating in a year and a half anyways.
