Later that night when his mother got home with his sleeping brother, Damian, in her arms, she put her things away and walked into his brothers room. She set him down on his bed and tucked him in, then walked back into the kitchen, by the front door.
She looked on the table to see the sandwhich she had left for Gabriel still on the table. She sighed, and threw the snack into the trash bin, putting the plate in the sink. She walked down the hallway and stood next to Gabriel's door. She knew it was locked, as always.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a key and unlocked his door, opening it just enough to see Gabriel. He was hugging his pillow tightly, his face swollen and pink. She sighed once gain and walked into Gabriel's room, closing the door being her softly.
She walked into Gabriel's bathroom and pulled out a rag. She turned on the sink and soaked the rag in warm water, then she turned the sink off and walked back into Gabriel's room. She sat at the head of his bed next to him and put the rag on his cheek, hoping to bring down the swelling.
After about 15 minutes, the swelling on his face went down. She kissed his forehead and walked into the hallway, closing the door slowly behind him.
The next morning, Gabriel woke up and stayed there for a moment. He thought of what day it was... Friday. He groaned and got up, looking through his dresser to find an outfit for the day. He got changed and went into the restroom to get ready.
Once he was done, he got his shoes on and walked into the kitchen, where his mother and brother were already gone, but his mom left him some pancakes and a fruit bowl on the table. He picked up the fruit bowl and ate it on the walk to school.
"I'm just gonna be quiet today, I can't raise attention.. I don't want to get best up again." Gabriel thought as he headed to his locker. He put his books away and kept the ones for his next class, then started walking down the hallway.
Jake fame over to walk next to him, annoying him like he always did. He kept his head down and ignored him, but everytime he did that it made Jake mad. He pushed the 3 books Gabriel was carrying out of his hands, and Gabriel ducked to pick them up quickly.
Jake grabbed his back pack and pulled it off of him, throwing it across the hallway. All of his books and papers went flying everywhere. One of Jake's friends picked on of them up and stiffed it in their locker, and Jake winked at him.
Gabriel was too busy picking up his books to notice. He put everything in his bag and zipped it, then speed walked to his next class. Oddly enough, Jake left him alone for the rest of the day.
Once Gabriel got home, he set his bag down and started going through it, looking for his notebook. He couldn't find it. He started to panic, and dumped his backpack out onto the floor. It wasn't there.
He calmed down and told himself it was probably inside his locker, so he out his books away and got a cup of water. He went onto the couch to watch TV. After a few hours, he went to his room and got out some paper and crafts, and an unfinished art assignment he had to do in the next week.
He worked until about 10 pm, when he got tired. He went into the kitchen to get some water and take his shoes off, then be went into his room to go to bed. He layed there for a long time, unable to fall asleep, but he heard his mom and brother come home so he turned over and pretended to be asleep.
