They walk through the open doors and are hit with a breeze of warm air. The hallways were packed, and they were trying to squeeze through everyone. Eventually they did get separated. Once Gabriel got to his locker he realized that Nathan was no longer following him. Everyone was forming a crowd at the end of the hallway.

"Oh my god! Someone got their vampire already!" He heard some guy shout. "You're so cute! Are you single?" Another female voices screamed again. He couldn't make up anything from anyone else because everyone was screaming at the same time.

Nathan came squeezing out of the crowd, and stopped when he was out. He looked at Gabriel in the eyes, and Gabriel was standing in front of his locker looking back at him. People tried to start crowding around Nathan again, but he pushed them away and started walking towards Gabriel.

Nathan put his arm around Gabriel and made him face the lockers. Everyone stopped trying to talk to Nathan and just stared, silently. Nathan turned his head. "Do you mind?" He said, sternly. Everyone immediately dispersed and the hallways were packed again, but they had a little bit of space.

"So do I get stuff, or am I just here to stay around you?" Nathan asked. Gabriel opened his locker. "I don't know. If you had school wherever you're from, then I think you learn with us. You'd have to pay attention anyways." He said, and put a few things in his locker. "We don't do school. We learned all that stuff by getting it like, I don't know, put into our brains at the age of 10?" Gabriel put some books into his bag as Nathan talked.

Nathan excused himself to the bathroom and left Gabriel to finish up. Gabriel looked at the time on his phone and the bell was going to ring in about 15 minutes, but everyone was normally kind if early so it was usual.

"Hey, nerd!" Someone screamed from a ways down the hallway. Gabriel turned around to see Jake walking toward him. He rolled his eyes and slammed his locker as Jake walked up to him.

"Surprised you didn't get expelled after what you did to me yesterday." He said smugly, and put this hand on the locker. He put his other hand on Gabriel's shoulder and blocked him in. "You would have gotten suspended too." Gabriel said.

That seemed to tick Jake off, because he grabbed the collar of Gabriel's sweater and punched him in the face. He pulled his arm back to punch him again, but someone from behind him grabbed his wrist and pinned it behind his back. The person grabbed his other wrist and pinned him to the wall next to Gabriel. It was Nathan!

Nathan pinned Jake to the locker, giving him a bloody nose. "Don't touch him." Nathan said, intimidating. Jake let out a few grunts in pain before Nathan let go, and he shouted some insults then ran down the hallway.

Gabriel was on the floor, clutching his face. Nathan bent down to face him. He grabbed his hand and brought it down. With his other hand he grabbed Gabriel's chin and lifted it to check the damage. His face was red, but the wound wasn't very bad.

Gabriel put his head down again in shame. "Hey, hey, look at me." Nathan said, and held his chin again. Gabriel looked up at him again. "It's not your fault. Calm down. It's not that bad." Nathan said. Nathan nodded in reassurance and Gabriel nodded back. They continued looking into each other's eyes for a while, then Nathan got up. He held his hand out and helped Gabriel up. Gabriel rubbed his face, and his eyes were glossy, like he was about to start crying.

"Hey, it's okay-" He started. Gabriel jumped forward and hugged him tightly. "Sorry.. I didn't want to get you involved. I didn't think he'd do that." Gabriel said. He started rambling but it once again came out as gibberish. Nathan hugged him back. "It's fine. It's what I'm supposed to do anyways, so calm down." Nathan said. Gabriel did seem to calm down.

Soon, the bell ring. "Let's go to your next class, okay?" Nathan said. They stopped the hug and Gabriel wiped his face with the sleeve of the sweater and nodded. They, albeit slowly, walked to Mrs. James classroom. Once they got there, Mrs. James was already starting her lesson. She saw Nathan and got excited.

"Oh hello! It seems someone got their vampire already! What's your name dear?" She asked, stopping Nathan. Gabriel walked to the side of the room and sat down, resting his head on his hand and looking at Nathan. Jake was giving Nathan the stink eye from the back of the class.

"My name is Nathan?" Nathan said confused. "Oh what a wonderful name! And you must be Gabriel's vampire, right?" She asked, guiding him to her desk. "Yes ma'am." Nathan said. "Okay, stay here." She said. She walked to the back of the room and got a desk, and put it next to Gabriel's desk. She also got a chair. "This will be your desk, and I'll have books and stuff for you tomorrow!" She said, and walked back to the front of her class.

Nathan walked to his new desk and sat down, him and Gabriel looked at each other. Mrs. James continued teaching at the front of the class, and Gabriel looked out of the window for a while, not paying attention. "You're teacher is nice." Nathan whispered to Gabriel. "You think she's nice? Wait til you meet some of the others." Gabriel said, kind if chuckling. "There's more?" Nathan asked, shocked. "There's 10." Gabriel said.

They kept whispering to each other when the bell rang. "What's that for?" Nathan asked. "That's the bell, meaning it's time for next class. Let's go." Gabriel said. They stopped at Gabriels locker then walked to the class. They had the same routine in each class, getting seated next to Gabriel and talking the entire time, each teacher being almost nicer than the last. It was now lunch, in the middle of the day. "How many teachers do you have? I remember 2 of them." Nathan said, exhausted. Gabriel laughed. "Well, I have 6 each day. Some of the extra classes are different teachers, but for things like math that I have everyday it's always the same teacher. Mrs. James is my History teacher." Gabriel responded.

"I remember her and Miss Lex." Nathan said. They both laughed and they got to the lunch room. They got what was on the menu that day and sat down at a table, nobody else was there. As soon as Nathan and Gabriel sat down a lot of students came over and sat down at the table with them, trying to talk to Nathan at the same time.

"Do you want to sit with me at the popular table?" Emily asked. Emily was the popular girl, everyone loved her. "He can't come, though." She said, pointing at Gabriel. "If he isn't coming, I'm not coming. Get out of my face." Nathan said, annoyed.

Emily looked dumbfounded. "What do you mean no?! He's a loser! The outcast! Why wouldn't you want to hang out with us?!" She started yelling at him at the table, and the people backed away. She was prone to violence when she was angry. "Because you treat people like trash. Now, I'll say it again, get out of my face!" Nathan shouted.

Emily looked furious. She put her hand up as if to hit him, but Nathan grabbed her hand. "You're lucky you're a girl." Nathan said, and slammed her wrist down on the desk. She held her wrist in pain and walked towards the table she was seated at.

"You could have gone over there. I don't mind, usually I'm alone anyways." Gabriel said, picking at his food. Nathan gave him a look. "I'm not going to ditch you. I hate people like that, who are rude to others or whatever. If I like to hang out with you I will, they can't do anything about it." He responded reassuringly, and patted his shoulder. "Let's eat and then get through the day. I can't wait to go to sleep tonight." Nathan joked, and started eating his food.

At the end of the day, people were still trying to talk to Nathan. He made it very clear he wasn't looking to ditch Gabriel for anyone at that school. They walked home and put their bags at the door, then walked to Gabriel's room. Nathans face planted on the bed. "I see why you hate this school so much." He groaned. "Haha, yeah. It's harder for me than it was for you today." Gabriel said, and walked to his desk.

"So, what do u wanna do now?" Gabriel asked, and put his notebook off to the side.
